Prairie~Phlox
that can be done together. Any suggestions? THanks, PP
Donna A.
Not sure if you want Christian content, but you have you looked at MFW Exploring Countries & Cultures? Your 7th grader would use the junior high supplement package for extra reading and research. That's scheduled in the TM opposite the lesson plans for 'everybody'. http://www.mfwbooks.com/ecc_2nd.htm
cbollin
I used MFW's ecc last year with 7th and 4th. liked it.
HollyDay
Around the World in 180 Days!!!!! My dc LOVE this program. They spend hours searching for the answers. I have to tell them to stop geography and move on to another subject. My youngest asked for a library trip so she could get a books on Australian cooking, Australian animals, and pictures of Australia in general. We spent a lot of time with Europe. I added cooking from various countries. We looked at natural resources, geography from a political POV, culture (music, traditional dress, etc). It has been a great program. I will take us longer than 180 because I am adding so many things. But, it is easy to do. Something as simple as a travel dvd helps bring the area to life. My dc are 8th and 5th this year. It is very doable with different ages/stages. This is by far my favorite geography program. terrij
This series is written by Ann Voskamp and is geared for students in grades 1-8. It is written so that younger students can understand it, but the content is not dumbed down in any way. We have used both volumes in our family with kids ranging from 2nd grade up to 8th. http://www.knowledgequestmaps.com/A-Child%27s-Geography-Explore-His-Earth.html Or http://www.knowledgequestmaps.com/A-Child%27s-Geography-Explore-the-Holy-Land.html
sandra in va
Trail Guide series? They have world, US, and Bible geography books with corresponding notebook pages for the levels of your kids. I've only used this as a supplement, but I'm sure it could be used as your main curriculum if you do all the research projects. Other options: SL 5 has been great this year (eastern hemisphere geo) - would work for the ages of your kids. Hth,
Prairie~Phlox
Thanks everyone. I guess I should have added that I wanted to keep costs minimal, we have a great library and I can use it as well, wanted more of a spine. MFW is a little more than I want to spend. I'll check the rest out. Blessings, Phlox
