Kendra
I need a generic, all-purpose, built-to-last toaster. Stainless steel would be great! TIA
Crissy
I need a generic, all-purpose, built-to-last toaster. Stainless steel would be great! TIA I've been thinking about upgrading, too. We're still using the toaster my sister bought for me when my 13yo was 5 or so. It makes dinosaur images on each side of the bread. A real conversation starter when you offer brunch to a group of adults!
Jodi-FL
ours is a Toastmaster, stainless steel, 4 slice that we got at Bed Bath and Beyond with a coupon years ago (and it gets used quite often here). I can't find it on the BBB site, but maybe if you google? I don't know, we've had it for at least 7 years.
percytruffle
I love my toaster! It is a Breville four slice toaster in stainless. You can see it here at Crate and Barrel. It is so spiffy. You can bring the toast up during toasting to check the doneness and it won't cancel the cycle. It does bagels more on one side than the other just like it should. You can put long slice of bread and oval shaped naan, and they fit! It has neat blue LED lights in the front on the dial, which is all digital. I adore my toaster! :p Silly, I know, but when you get one you really like it makes all the difference.
theodwyn
I really like using a toaster oven. Then I don't have to worry about the bagel not fitting and it is also useful for baking or broiling small amounts of something, or toasting almonds, etc. Wendy
Suzanne in ABQ
I like my Oster. It has easy settings for "Warm", "Frozen", and "Bagel", in addition to regular toast. The settings are consistent. Mine's a beautiful red color, but it comes in different colors. I got it at Target for about $30.

chai
I love my Cuisinart. It got great reviews from people when I was looking. I bought it on-line (I think on Amazon). It was a return/refurbish, so I got it for a great price.
