Heidi @ Mt Hope
Are all alarm clock snooze buttons set at 9 minutes? Why? Why not 8, or 10, or 15 minute intervals? 9 minutes seems so....random. And who set that industry standard? Or am I delusional and clocks vary?
Parrothead
In high school my snooze when off after 8 minutes. - or maybe it was 7 minutes. Sheesh, that was a long time ago. I definitely know it wasn't 9 though.
OrganicAnn
In my experience the snooze time varies based on the clock. Some clocks you can even set the snooze time.
Heidi @ Mt Hope
See, I *am* delusional! It is time for bed. And I'm not setting my alarm. Wahoo!
swellmomma
Mine goes every 7 minutes(when I actually plug the darn thing in and use it lol)
Kirch
Mine goes every 7 minutes(when I actually plug the darn thing in and use it lol) Mine is 4 minutes. I'm convinced that the snooze button was invented by the devil himself. On the other hand, my addition-by-fours skills have improved drastically! Is it even worth hitting the button for four minutes?

I think it is to force us to improve our math skills. It's amazing how I can accurately calculate how many times I can hit that button while half asleep and still get up on time. ;) :D

courtney.byrum
Mine is 9 minutes too. I did have one that I could adjust the snooze time when I was in high school.
Tap
They vary. I even had one that the alarm delay got shorter each time you hit the snooze button. 10min, 8min, 6 min, 4min, 2min. My current one is 5 min and will let you snooze 3 times and that it it. It won't go off any more after that. By the way....why is there an 'e' on snooze? OhM
My first thought was that it had to do with the mechanics - a 3 bit counter? (Except that's only 8 digits...) Apparently, a lot of people have pondered this question - Snopes has a great (tech-heavy) discussion. ETA: This explanation has an authoritative feel to it. :D
Wyndie
My snooze is 9 minutes, DH's clock is 7. I like mine better. :D
