Shelly in VA
I'm realizing that I only use copywork as punishment... yes, I know, bad me! :glare: When I get irritated with dawdling, or behavior, then we yank out copywork on whatever trait I'm irritated with. Clearly, I need to turn this around! So, what do you do for older (grades 5 & 7) kids? Do you let them pick their own topics, or do you assign things for them? Thanks!! Mom2legomaniacs
For something fun, what about silly poetry from Shel Silverstein or Jack Prelutsky? Also, something just came to me that I think I will try here too. What about you writing something backwards -- the whole thing backwards -- they have to copy it in reverse in order to read what it says. I think I will try this too. ArwenA
We integrate copywork into our other subjects. Science, history, Bible, poetry, art and music appreciation and sometimes, literature/reading. I'm not really sure about fun ways but we find what we do enjoyable.
teamturner
If your kids have any mad libs they've done lying around, you could let them copy one of those silly sentences or paragraphs. It would also be a grammar review. Hey, I'm going to use your idea of copy work when too much dawdling is happening. I like that!! :D
