Ravin
Any suggestions of a math curriculum that uses a textbook rather than workbooks? I'm looking something to liven up our math instruction, and DD insists she wants to do it like Sister Bear on Berenstain Bears...who is depicted doing math on a separate paper while looking in a textbook. We're already using Miquon, which I want to continue to use, but I'm happy to introduce a 2nd program if it will keep DD interested and progressing (and isn't too expensive). The first (actually, the only) program I thought of that meets this requirement is Ray's Arithmetic. Are there any others? She's in 1st grade. Closeacademy
Rod and Staff uses textbooks starting in grade 3. Also old school textbooks are good for this if you can find them. :001_smile: Edited February 7, 2010 by Closeacademy
Melissa B
Practical Arithmetics It says 3rd grade, but as the website says, that is because arithmetic was begun in 3rd grade when the text was written. It begins with number recognition and simple addition and subtraction. http://systemath.com/index.php/2008011039/Getting-Started/Practical-Artithmetics.html
Whereneverever
Another vote that Rod and Staff would be a good fit for that.
