hsmom
I am still looking, but so far these are my top picks. If you think there is too much in on stop, suggestions are welcome. Math Horizons 1 History SOTW 1 & activity guide Geography Beginning geography books (evan moor) Science Noeo Biology 1 Phonics Horizons 1 phonics and reading LA LLATL red book (will use this lightly, I like the program it works but has holes) * draw write now book 1 Art How to teach art to children (evan moor)
Lovedtodeath
I think it is too much. :) I personally wouldn't get all of that done. The main thing that I have had to simplify is science. Elemental Science only requires 3 books. I don't think I would get LLaTL done along with a phonics program either, but I am not really familiar with that program. Probably because with the exception of your LA choices, it's exactly what I did for grade one last time.;) We had a fantastic year. :)
TheCoffeeChick
I think your plan is fine. You have all your bases covered plus some. :001_smile: BUT... If you want to simplify, you might consider using SOTW for geography - there's plenty of mapping activities to do in it. If learning the continents and oceans are your concern you can just practice them for 5 minutes during your history lesson and they will quickly be learned. I also agree with Lovedtodeath that using Horizons and LLATL together might prove to be a lot for a 6 year old -- but only you can gauge what your child can do. Being a true WTM lover :001_wub:, I would toss both programs and do OPG, FLL, and WWE. This is what we use and it takes us 30 minutes to do it all (4 days a week). Happy hunting for your curriculum. MommyX8
More than what I have planned: History-SOTW Math- Mammoth Math Spelling and Handwriting- Spell to Write and Read Grammar- Growing with Grammar Art- Atelier Art Classical Conversations Cycle 1 at home (science is tucked in here) Maybe ETC for phonics. We should be fully reading by then. I still need to find a literature/reading program.
believe in miracles
Looks like a fun year! I'm debating SOTW myself.
