Brigitte
This school year I have had major frustrations with one twin writing multidigit numbers in what ever order she feels like. We have talked about the importance of place value ad nauseum. I have tried gentle correction, scolding, rewards, etc. with no effect. Yesterday we started back to school after 2.5 weeks off. She did her entire math assignment with no reversals in place value! Today she made one reversal, but corrected it before giving me her assignment to check over. Whoopie! Each day, I asked her how many reversals I marked and she said none and got a big grin on her face. She is so proud of herself. She credits writing the date in her journal to this sudden improvement. I also credit her seeing how important writing numbers correctly in her bank book is. Whatever the reason, I am thrilled! :D
Tammyla
:smash: There's nothing like a little real life banking to drive a lesson home. I'll celebrate with you.:cheers2:
jujsky
Yay!!!! I often find that my kids suddenly "get" things after a break that I've been trying to hammer home forever.
