Dawn in Ohio
I have straight hair already. Would a flat iron improve the look, texture, shine of my hair? (I'm amazed by the *gorgeous* hair of all the teenage girls at church and I know must of them are straigtening their hair.) There is a picture of me in this blog post: http://joelduff.blogspot.com/2009/07/dress-from-grandma.html
newlifemom
Well, at first glance I would say you need to grow more hair first. :D [sorry, it tickled my funny bone to see a baby first.] Your hair seems pretty straight and not frizzy, so I don't know. I use it b/c I have in between hair. I suspect that the girls you are referring to also use a lot of product in their hair. What kind I don't know, but probably expensive. :tongue_smilie: I wouldn't break the bank buying one, but look at TJ Maxx or Marshall's as my dh found a nice one there for a very good price. Remudamom
My dds have straight hair and it looks even better when they use a flatiron. I have very curly hair and use one too. Go for it. I love straight hair. We use a cheapie from Walmart and it works fine.
hornblower
What you want is a bit of product + a flat iron. An iron on its own won't give you the results you want. Redken Shine Vinyl Glam is nice & not too heavy. Some of the serums are a bit too much, esp on fine hair. If you're not careful, you end up with greasy limp hair. I find a little of this stuff goes a long way so it's worth getting a recommendation from a salon & buying from there. It will last for months. Another option is an occasional rinse with diluted cider vinegar.
