Carmen_and_Company
Hey all, I have not posted much since this summer as Storm is now in a school setting at a wonderful charter school based on TWTM. That said, I'm in the process of preparing a summer reading list for me based on the 9th grade curriculum overview and am a little overwhelmed to say the least, as the lists are to be read & studied over a typical school year of 36 weeks. Taz and I read many of the selections over a two-year period while schooling year-round. The school breaks the texts into 3 categories: History, Rhetoric, LA, and I like this, but many of my links I used with Taz 6 years ago no longer exist, and I need help finding newer guides in book or link form. I would list the books, but am not sure if I'm allowed, but here's a link to the 9th grade overview for next school year: http://novaclassical.org/academics/files/public_maps/09.pdf I'm kicking myself because If I had kept Storm at her proper grade based on when she began school, I'd have another year to sort this out, but the school only had openings for 8th grade this year and an extremely long waiting list--sigh. Jane in NC
Not relevant to this post, but did you know that you are missed in these parts, Carmen? Why just the other day you were mentioned here. Best to you and your family. Jane

Chris in VA
Well that looks a lot like the things we read in Omnibus--only more so! lol You will be fine, Carmen! You don't have to read every book before the year starts; you can stay a month or two ahead and be fine. Sounds like a great school.
MIch elle
Can help with an overview of many of those works in history & LA. See if your library system has them. Otherwise TC is having an awesome sale until 12/29 up to 87% off.
Michelle in MO
That is some impressive reading list! At first when I read through the schedule, I looked just at the Language Arts reading and thought, "Well, that's not so bad; covering one major author per month." Then I took a second look at the history and rhetoric schedule. It looks like it will be very rigorous! I like the fact that the schedule isn't overcrowded with "busy" classes, if you know what I mean. Your daughter will be well-prepared! I would not have made it through with my eldest if it were not for all the wonderful mothers and several fathers from the old boards. Thanks, for all your support. I'll see if I can locate guides for the literature selections so that I can get all the texts on the shelf and ready for next year. My eldest a math wiz, Storm, the one in the classical charter, a foreign language wiz, and my youngest is a wiz at getting out of work--lol.
