teachermom2834
How do you store it? How long does it last (if we can refrain from eating, of course). I read somewhere that it freezes well. Anyone tried that? Thanks, Marie
Annie G
I grew up eating it at holiday time- we have always called it monkey food- and we kept it in tins for weeks. The recipe calls for a lot of butter so I'm kind of surprised we never had it go bad or get sick eating it weeks later.
Crissy
How long does it last (if we can refrain from eating, of course). Oh, gosh. Chex mix doesn't last days around here. I swear, I could eat it every single day. That's why I don't make it. ;) My grandmother made huge batches every Christmas and stored it in large ziplock bags (gallon size, maybe?). She kept them in the pantry along with her other holiday baked goods until she put her trays and baskets together to give away. She always baked for two weeks prior to Christmas, so I imagine all of her goodies lasted at least that long.
Lisa in Jax
I make huge batches every year, and it never lasts more than about three days. :P
KatieJ
I am sure it lasts almost forever..if you can refrain from eating. I jest at the almost forever. However, I do shop in bulk and freeze lots of stuff no one ever thinks about freezing. Like Chips once the big bag has been opened. I don't see why you couldn't freeze chex mix if you were concerned. I would warm it up a tad before serving it tho.
Daisy
My MIL never puts enough sauce on for us. It starts to get kinda soft but I tell you that because we REVIVE it. If you put it into the oven for a few minutes it gets crisp and warm again and sooo much better.
Once
My mother made it each year and she froze it....I couldn't tell the difference. But I'm with everyone else...it does not last long around here.
