Guest Cindie2dds
What grade and/or reading level do these start? There is a box set on Amazon and it says it's for ages 9-12, but the title is Primer through 6th grade; is that correct? If you use them, what age did you start your kids on them? We are almost finished with Nora Gaydos' "Now I'm Reading" and are looking for the next step. Thanks!
Caribbean Queen
We are almost finished with Nora Gaydos' "Now I'm Reading" and are looking for the next step. Thanks! The second reader is on about a 3rd and 4th grade level. You may like the primer. All the readers are available for free on the internet, so you can take a peek at them before you buy one. Dinsfamily
I found all of them at our local library so you might want to look there before buying. You could check them out before spending the $$. In fact, I need to look at them again now that ds is reading more fluently. He wasn't ready last time I picked them up. NoPlaceLikeHome
I would make certain that it is the revised 1879 edition since this edition is better for phonics from what I recall from ElizabethB:)

You can see them at Gutenberg: http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/authors/m#a5671 Also, here is their grade level: http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=137281&highlight=sanders+grade+level

MeAndTheBoys
I bought the set too--for $37 or whatever we paid, it's nice to have them in hand--it is a nice set. I saw them available free on Google books, but they certainly are easier to use as books :) But free is good, if it works for you that way. You would probably want to start with the primer--my oldest is doing 2nd grade LA/Reading, reads on a 4th grade level (Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys are what he's working through now) and he's doing the First Reader. It's easy, but one of the things we're working on is smooth and clear oral reading--he stands and reads it aloud to me. At some point, I'd like to use it for copywork, but now we're only using it for oral reading. The higher levels would be great for summary practice. My middle son is finishing up CLE Learning to Read--we're in the last light unit--and he's doing the Primer. What grade and/or reading level do these start?
