Night Elf
I have reusable bags from Kroger, Publix, and Walmart. I love using these bags! But they don't seem to hold up well and I'd like to replace them with a more durable material. I found a website: Simply Green Solutions, that offers polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PET), organic bamboo, and organic cloth. I have no idea which one is best! Anyone know? Pippen
I had the same problem and was going to make some until I found the library was changing their heavy duty library tote bags and selling their old ones for $2. I nabbed some, washed some up, and they've worked great. It looks like they're made of a heavy duty canvas.
Hikin' Mama
that a friend of mine made for me out of heavy canvas. They are super durable. I load those puppies up at the grocery store! I've had and used them for several years. They wash well, too.
keptwoman
The ones I have that have really stood the test are a very heavy woven hemp with a PUL backing. They stand up by themselves because the fabric is that strong. They aren't showing any sign of wear at all after a number of months.
Ali in OR
I didn't make them, but my heavy canvas bags have lasted years. The cheapies from the grocery store fall apart relatively quickly.
mommytobees
Since I live in Japan I need grocery bags. I've been messing around with different things. The two best I've found are rip-stop nylon and bed sheets. I've made my own, they are easy.
