MommyX8
I'd like to lapbook with the kids but SOTW moves too quickly for topical studies. Anything out there?

Paula in MS
Homeschool share has lapbooks for ancient Greece, Rome and Egypt. I haven't looked at them because we are in the Middle Ages. They also have some Middle Ages related lapbooks. Paula
jfletcher8091
Check out Hands of a Child. http://www.handsofachild.com/ They have tons of historical lapbooks, from Ancients to Present, as well as many on characters from history such as Marco Polo, Benjamin Franklin, Christopher Columbus. nd293
SOTW moves too quickly for topical studies. We have tended to re-arrange chapters in a particular SOTW book to make it chronological within regions. So, we read all the Egypt chapters together, all the Rome chapter, all the China chapter etc etc. It's not perfect, but might be what you need to do to bring in lapbooking. Otherwise, do a minibook or two per chapter, then take a week to review, complete extra minibooks and assemble the lapbook when you reach the last chapter on a particular region? WyoSylvia
Here are some SOTW-based lapbooks. Great link - thanks. I have no idea how they organized all those... I looked at the Middle Ages lapbook and am blown away.
Chris in VA
I think they just went chapter by chapter to organize it. Did you read thru the directions on how to assemble it, etc.? It does make a lot of sense.
WyoSylvia
I think they just went chapter by chapter to organize it. Did you read thru the directions on how to assemble it, etc.? It does make a lot of sense. Oh I'm sorry. I meant, "Wow, how did they manage to do all that!!! That's fabulous!" (I wonder sometimes if I should wait an hour, or maybe a day between writing a reply and then posting so that I can PROOF-READ! :001_smile:) Edited November 20, 2009 by WyoSylvia
