LibraryLover
10 yr old wants to make box brownies, mother wishes to enjoy the clean kitchen for a bit. Mother, hoping to buy time tells child, 'We only have olive oil. I'll go buy vegetable oil later". Child says 'It just needs a fat binder, I can melt butter". Thwarted again! lionfamily1999
They'll tast SO much better. If you use milk instead of water they end up really thick and creamy (it's hard to explain).

Oh! I'll tell her about the milk. She did add a bit of cinnamon and some vanilla.
lionfamily1999
Dh used to be very secretive about making brownies. He told everyone (who wanted to know why his brownies from a box tasted so good) that the secret ingredient was bacon grease  My mother can tell you, bacon grease is not a good substitute for veggie oil. Then, he let me in on his secret and I told everyone :p
Jean in Newcastle
Just have her clean the kitchen afterward. And relax with some nice chewy brownies!
5wolfcubs
Olive oil works in brownies, too. :) Just in case you're out of butter next time...
