Can you laminate leaves in a laminator?

Recommended Posts

Not sure, but I know you can soak leaves in mineral oil to preserve them. Soak the leaves overnight and dry on a paper towel. They will last for years.

Wow, that's pretty neat, never knew they could preserve like that. I'm going to have to put mineral oil on my shopping list now:001_smile:

I'd be interested to know if they could be heat laminated too.

I have, but we've sent them away in Penpal letters, so I'm not sure how they have held up!

But first, I use my microwave press on them to get the moisture out. The heat laminator has seemed to dullen the vivid orange of the leaf, but it could've been something else too.

I have laminated leaves before when I taught the K/1 grades. Didn't like how the "air bubbles" were like as the heat roller didn't press it. Depends on the heat setting. Someone was correct the heat will distort the color of the leaf. I have no clue if they last forever. LOL I like the other suggestions for preservation, tho'.
