ChristusG
I post here fairly regularly....but I'm not a classical homeschooler and I know nothing about SOTW :::I'm hiding now:::: LOL. So I have a few questions. I have a child who just began kindergarten. Is the SOTW audio CD appropriate for this age or will she be bored? Also, I read somewhere that there's activities that go along with the CD's. Where would I find these activities and pages? Also, we are a family who is very grounded in our Christian faith (one of our primary reasons for homeschooling) and I wanted to make sure that the SOTW does not conflict our beliefs in any way. I'm all ears :bigear: if anyone can answer these questions....and not throw tomotoes at me for being clueless LOL.
WiseOwlKnits
I can't answer the 2nd question since we're not that far into SOTW ourselves. But, as to using it with your K'er, I'd say go for it! I'm using it with my 5 yo and she loves it! The other activities are part of the activity guide you can purchase to go along with it. And I would definitely recommend buying it too.
Starr
We do not find it to conflict with Christian Faith. My dc really enjoyed these books and the activity books. We started in first grade.
WTMindy
You will have to be the judge with you K-er. My dd was in K when we started it and we loved it!! And, we found nothing to conflict with our Christian views.
thescrappyhomeschooler
I'm using it now with Kindergarten and 1st grade dss. They both love it. It is really appropriate for a wide range of ages, I'd say. I even enjoy listening.
ChristusG
Thanks so much for the info! I think I may give it a try with her and purchase the activity book as well. I guess the worst that could happen is that she'll be bored and I'll just save it for when she gets a bit older.
Julie in Austin
Something to think about: I do think a K-er could handle SOTW 1, but I don't think a 3rd grader can handle SOTW 4, partially because of the subject matter but also because the material is more dense. phathui5
Have you read The Well Trained Mind? I would wait until 1st grade to start, because SOTW runs as a four year history cycle.
Rosie_0801
I'm going to do some informal geography (looking at photo books, map puzzles etc) with my kids before starting SOTW in grade one. There's another idea :) Rosie
