*********
So I bought a bunch of cherries. Apparently, too many. :D They're gonna go bad soon. We've been eating them, but I guess not fast enough. So I thought, hey, why not pit them and freeze them? But then I thought, well, then what will I do with them? So, before I go ahead and stain all my fingernails red with cherry juice, what would I be able to do with frozen, pitted cherries? BTW, I don't have a cherry pitter, so they would be halved so I can get the pit out. Just in case that makes any difference. Thanks ladies for any ideas! Caitilin
you can make an awesome cherry pie with them! If you have the Joy of Cooking, there's an excellent and easy recipe in it. I have the edition from the mid-to-late-nineties, fwiw. enjoy your fruit! Caitilin

HRAAB
Pies, cobblers, smoothies, compotes for pancakes/waffles. I freeze cherries every summer so we can enjoy them year around. Janet
Dirtroad
If you can cut out the pits (even though hard work) and dont' mind the work.... you can freeze them for winter cobblers.... ice cream... or even tarts. I like the idea of cherry cobbler on a cold winter day!;)

*********
Well ladies, you convinced me. I pitted the cherries, and they're on a cookie sheet in the freezer. Now, anyone got a great suggestion on how to get the cherry juice stains out of my cuticles? :D
MariannNOVA
no clue about getting rid of the stains! I pitted fresh cherries on saturday afternoon -- (fool :tongue_smilie: - AFTER my nail appointment!) I did make a scrumptious cherry cobbler with chocolate truffle crust! My cuticles are improving (probably will take a trip to the pool and a soak in chlorinated water). I used two recipes that I found on www.thekitchenlink.com The cherries had to be cooked down as I was using fresh cherries instead of frozen or canned ones so I used the instructions from one recipe for that process and the chocolate truffle crust/cherry cobbler recipe for the actual dessert I was making. Enjoy!
SonshineLearner
You can use a large paper clip to do this...:-) Carrie... PS, smoothies..but we don't get that far...slightly defrosted and you eat them:-

PS, smoothies..but we don't get that far...slightly defrosted and you eat them:- Large paper clip, hunh? That's sure worth a try next time, thanks! I've also got some frozen mulberries and raspberries, picked from our yard. I'm wondering if I mixed all three berries together, if it would be a good combo for a berry crumble. I guess there's just one way to find out! :001_smile:
