HollyDay
The doc prescribed a potassium sparing diuretic for hormonal fluid retention. The pharmacist said she would suggest trying OTC Diurex first since I have a sulfa allergy. There can be a crossover reaction. Okay. I took the Diurex 4 hours ago and nothing any different. No frequent trips to bathroom. Nothing. I am a bit thirstier than usual. But that is about it. What does this mean?

No frequent trips to bathroom. Nothing. I am a bit thirstier than usual. But that is about it. What does this mean? Diurex is caffeine. Caffeine is a natural diuretic and it is the primary ingredient in most OTC diuretics. You may need a prescription diuretic like the one you doctor prescribed. What kind of reaction did you have to the Sulfa drug?
secular_mom
You need to drink plenty of water when taking a diuretic.
HollyDay
Sulfa reaction was a skin rash. I am told that could mean a more serious skin crossover reaction.
