Need ideas for indoor party this weekend

Recommended Posts

My daughter is having an early birthday party this weekend. Her actual birthday is in September, but a lot of her friends can't seem to make it then plus she was wanting to have a water type party outside. It has been raining and cool every day so far this spring. We were hoping for warmer/dry weather at least for the weekend, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. :001_huh: So ...

We will most likely have the party inside instead. I need to come up with fun things to do inside. We live in a not-to-big doublewide mobile home that has wall to wall furniture in it.

Also, the people coming to the party are females from the age of 8 up.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A tea party.

Everyone dresses up. Little sandwiches, little desserts. Then a scavenger hunt perhaps, through the house in teams? Different clues for different teams. It doesn't have to involve a lot of space to figure out the clues.

Maybe it's not called a scavenger hunt. It would be where everyone gets a clue, then when the figure that clue out it leads them to the next clue and so forth, until they get to the prize. (Clues are things like: I shine brightest at night. What am I? The answer is a lamp.)

How about a beach party theme? You could check out the party stores for a few decorations. You could--

Do the Limbo with music (Beach Party CD)

Make colored sand bottles--or paint sea shells or make shell necklaces

Play duck duck goose, only call it fish, fish, crab and have them chase each other doing the crab walk.

Play "Beach relay"--make two teams. Have girls run (or crab walk) one at a time to the end of the room, where each team has a beach towel and beach stuff--Each girl puts on a Hawaiian shirt, beach hat, white zinc on her nose, and spreads the beach towel out. Parent says OK then child undresses and rolls up the towel, goes and tags the next kid in line.

Make fish print t-shirts as a party favor--get a real, whole fish from the market (if you have a korean market, they usually are cheaper), some fabric paint, and boy's Hanes t-shirts (cheap-about a dollar each in a 6 pk at Walmart!). Paint the fish, then carefully lay the tee over it and print--put a piece of paper inside the shirt first to make sure it doesn't go thru.

Have this going the same time you are making the other crafts to cut down on waiting time.

Use a white frosted cake, cover half with crushed Vanilla wafers for sand, and put some blue in the frosting for the sea. A little umbrella is fun, or frost it all in blue and put gummy fish on it. Little umbrellas in the drinks are cute, too.

Just some ideas!

No ideas, just sympathy. Last year for ds6's birthday he requested a sprinkler to run through and a slip and slide for his main presents. It ended up being rainy and cold on his birthday (June 28th) and it was a week or 2 before he could use them. Gotta love Colorado weather!
