  1. (((HUGS))) I understand, Sending you big big virtual hugs, Mechanical and pig valve will be my guess,(Gently saying this) do not forget to ask about the Ivig treatment.

To answer your second part is going to be very difficult too many factors can come into play and its complicated, While they can address the edema issue what they need to figure out is the complication with the brain you need to know what the exact issue is here.

Endocarditis is complicated But once that valve replacement surgery is done and you get through the rough 48 hour mark they can start tackling the other issues. There is no telling when things can stop working. The really good news is there is no new vegetation, going into surgery with that complicates things,

Remember they are preparing you for the worse case scenario. They have to and that is what they are doing BUT they will try their very best to save J's life without a question (((hugs))) I am sorry you all are going through this,

This diagnosis changed our entire life.My son has lived with a mechanical valve and been on blood thinners for a while now.I understand what you and J's mom are going through(((HUGS)))

    • Oh Kidshappen I am so sorry this is happening. I  want to give you hope though. With every stage in his fight with endocarditis(multiple open heart surgeries) and the many many complications that came DS battled it, We thought we had lost him because of the  many many organs it affected but somehow we plowed through along with good doctors, lots of prayers and just taking it day by day .
    • DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE!Tell J's mom and DD as well,,Do not give up hope!
    • Did they tell you which heart valve was affected? Mitral or Aortic? The other thing many many folks do not know about is giving the patient immunity,I am sure the infectious disease dr or Immunologist who are involved in his care can advise you on putting him on IVIG(this is for primary immune deficient patients) Pre and post op. Please look into it Its a high dollar product yes but Please ask about it, Takeda makes a product called Gammagard that has been around since the mid 2000's  and he might be a good candidate for it.
    • Since I have walked in the caregiver shoes I have a lot to say about this condition and if you would like help support or a shoulder I can PM you my phone number and be there for you, Sending prayers your way.
    • Wanted to add surgery might go longer than they tell you depending on how badly the valve is damaged so go prepared. Seeing J post op will be really really difficult since this is such a major operation be mentally prepared as well.(((HUGS))) (((HUGS))) (((HUGS)))

Christmas day in the Grapevine, TX area

This is close to where I live. You will have a lot of options if you look a few miles beyond Grapevine. Gaylord takes reservations and you don't have to stay there.

Las Colinas/valley ranch in the Irving area has a lot of Asian/Indian/Mediterranean (look at Japan house,India 101,Royal chopstix,Shwarma press,Benihana to name a few)I know the Mcd's on Lbj freeway in Las Colinas is open 24 hours year round and there is a Denny's right beside that location.

Please feel free to pm me if you need any specific information.

When I have transactions closing, I hate my job. That only happens (for significant transactions) about 6 times a year. Between, it's just not fulfilling.

I protect wealthy people's money. I went to law school to be Atticus Finch and I'm about as far from that as you can get and still be a lawyer.

I don't know much about your industry nor if you work for yourself or a company but have you thought of hiring an intern to help you with parts of your job?I know a few people who do this in other industries.

I would also evaluate your retirement goals and work towards them while keeping your current job,Maybe with a goal in place you might be able to retire from your high paying job sooner than you might think That way you can always do something more fulfilling.
