UPDATE-- Sep 8th
Mayank has been home for a few days now and doing well,Despite last week being hard with major drug withdrawals and sleep issues this week started out good!
So dearest WTM boardies we cannot thank you all enough,I am deeply humbled by your support!
Edited : Deleted the Snoopy Thank you message card,did not want to violate any rules.

Update #189
Update Day 18..ICU
Mayank has been off all tubes for 2 days no sedation,no breathing tubes which has surprised the icu dr's! He is still on some painkillers that they are planning to wean him off of! His vitals are good he just started walking and eating a bit! He said he is tired of the chicken noodle soup and is now asking for chicken tortilla soup !
We are ofcourse thrilled to feed him even if its just a tablespoon at a time!
We will still be in icu for a few days but no complaints from us!
We are eternally grateful to you all for providing us the much needed prayers,thoughts,well wishes! -

Saturday Update--#179
Monday Update --Day 13
The breathing tube came off at 10 this morning, while we still have a long way to go with everything else,this is oviously a huge step in the right direction.
Mayank is awake and asking for ice chips and water poor kid has to wait a while before that can happen.
It seems like we will be here in the icu for another week
We thank you all for the continued support!

Saturday Update--#189
Update :Saturday
Mayank is off the paralytic and he is up which is great but the only real problem is that he still has the breathing tube!The phyisical therapist has been coming and sat him up today for a few seconds!
He is responding to commands and is being cooperative!
I hope and pray the tube comes off and we will be in good shape once he will be able to talk!

New Update #189
Update-- Last night was hard on Mayank, they were trying to ween off on some medications but that failed!
Everytime they lowered the medications it was waking him up and ofcourse he was getting agitated!He had a rough night, this morning the Icu Dr changed a few medications and increased his dosage for sedative and that finally helped !!
We also got a nurse who it seems was not comfortable with an older kid! We need him to get some rest and let his lungs heal from the long surgery!

Update-- Mayank went back on the old vent from the oscillating vent,
His lungs are weak and have a long way to go.
The infection is not in the blood which is a huge plus!
Small improvements but it will be a long process!!

Update--we got word that Mayank has a lung infection but the antibiotics are taking care of that!
Vitals are very slowly improving,but there are a few issues that are worrying the dr's!
We need the fluid to come down that is so important at this point,it will take care of the inflamation!

Today brought in new problems, Heart rate is too high, running a fever and lung issues continues! Treating for pneumonia looking for other infections !
Allergic reaction to blood got hives and was scratching a lot, benedryl took care of it!
I need a lot more prayers good thoughts wishes ! There is power in numbers i'm told!
Appreciate all that y'all have been doing!

New Update #189
Update-40 hrs post op--the heart and the artificial valve are doing good. But its now the lungs they are stressed and inflamed.still has his breathing tube in as the lungs are full !
At this point its the lungs that need the most attention! We need oxygen levels to go up,
he is getting ivig to make sure he gets no infections!
He is concious but they keep him sedated as his tube and all the activities are aggitating him!
I told him you r all praying and thinking of him and he pointed to himself and said me? and smiled!
So thank you thank you,
long way to go many small things to worry about but this is the biggest,but we are hopeful that all these good thoughts& prayers are surely helping!

Update in # 102, hope im doing this right!
This is Mayank's mom and I am in awe, thank u!EACH AND EVERYONE of you,you are an amazing group who have all been through a lot yourselves.Here is the update!
I Just got back home to be with my 12 year old dd and sister who is here to help.Today was rough like I said ,the old valve and the area around it had a lot of scar tissue,
This am 9 hours after surgery he had major leaks from everywhere,so it took them about 18 hours to bring him to a decent level,He is still sedated and he is still on the vent with the breathing tube.
He is conscious though which is great but that is also causing issues as he is getting agitated and his levels are getting affected by this.
This was supposed to be a 5 hour surgery and since it went to for 8+ hours the body of course is stressed..
Anyway tonight the goal of the Icu staff is to keep him comfortable and as stable as possible.
At this point his lungs are still filled with fluid and they flush him through his breathing tube every 4 hours ,bu the body keeps making more!The needs to reduce!
We still need all the prayers,good thoughts,vibes coming the next 24-36 hours are critical.
WE appreciate all that you all have been doing and I will try to update again in 24 hours.
His Dr's are all in Medical City Dallas so we stayed there for the surgery... the surgeon is DR Eric Mendeloff.
