  1. Sometime when I get that way...you know the "or else," frustrated, growing horn and blowing smoke kind of way...and what I want is to just make memories-- I figure that's what I really need to do and pack in school for the day.....we're commited enough 95% of the time so why not. For me, there are just days that don't come together -- so I let them fall apart, pack a lunch, grab a book, and go somewhere --- or no where. Maybe today is the day to flop on your Ds bed and say "Who is she?" and act like you know something :D ... I get trapped sometimes in the "have tos" and forget that I have permission just not to....at least for a moment. :grouphug:
  2. I know when my FIL died it affected my dh's dreams, he'd dream that he was still alive, wake up and be crushed all over again. There are stages to grief, and you can't rush thru them. There may come a time that his anger is directed at you. Just be aware that it's part of the acceptance process, not that you need to accept his anger, but to realize where it's coming from. Also, many don't realize that depression is made worse by dehydration, be sure that he's drinking fluids, even if he's not hungry. So sorry you are having to go thru this. :grouphug:
  3. I am a christian, love my faith/God, but this statement even to me can sound offensive. I've found that statements like this sound like a pat on the head, you are so "misguided" and are in "need" of my prayers. When you have smart, educated people standing infront of you, a statement like this such a turn off -- and insulting. Why do we need to announce who we are praying for? Just pray for them. Good intentions may be the idea, but the tone is condesending and does more harm than good. IMHO
  4. With dementia you have to remember that they are not who they really are. It's hard. Eventually you cannot trust them to do anything for themselves -- the rolls reverse, you become the parent and they the child --the burden is huge. Is there anyway to meet with their GP and have him request a home health agency to step in. This would be covered under Medicare and most SS benefits. It would help out alot, even a few days a week. I'd have a Family meeting. Is your Dh their only child? This is something that will only get more involved -- Decisions need to be made now, before they don't have the mental capacity to think thru their decisions. With the rules a regulations today, someone needs to have a power of attorney over them, both with legal and health matters. (two separate documents) You have my simpathy -- with me it was my mother, early on set at 59, she passed 8 yrs later at 67. It's not an easy road. Please don't wait until you are exhausted -- set your boundries and spell out to your DH's family what they can expect from you. No one and I mean no one can do this alone. :grouphug:
  5. Well, for my 12 yr old it's gotten to be a running joke, I just ask her if she's having a "blond moment" -- hehehe--- and yes she's blond. To which she replies MOM! She's extremely bright also, and has been included in a small group to take the SAT in December. Only there are times when I look at her and I honestly don't understand what she just said. :001_huh: When she got the news she had been invited to take the SAT she smiled and announced she felt very "Smarticle."
  6. I like to give bird houses or bird feeders. Just be prepared to put it in the yard for your MIL -- and include a bag of seed. :-)
  7. Do you have TJ-Max near you? I bought name brand (Sealy) pillows from them for about $5-6 a piece.
  8. Solaris -- When it ended I was so irked that I had wasted my time watching it.
  9. Please don't shoot me but it's Sukkot and you build a sukkah :D
  10. Everything -- and I mean everything goes on the Credit Card. I earn points, double at the pump and grocery store. 3 or 4 x at other stores. I pay it off very month. With the points I get Gift Cards. It has paid for my deep freezer and I've got $600 towards purchasing a Sears riding lawn mower :D Over the last couple of years the CC company has paid me well over $1,000 just to use their card. I never pay interest. It was very weird the first time I stood at the grocery counter and "charged" my groceries -- but I get bonus point for that. So it's worth it. :D The card I use is a no fee card.
  11. I do know a few people who take it daily, but we don't. I think the most positive thing about it is that there dosen't seem to be any negative affects from taking it. And it won't interfere with what you may already be doing/trying. That was important to me -- since I wanted something I could give to my children.
  12. Acidophilus-- we keep in the fridge. We use it whenever we have intestinal upset (to put it nicely). My daughter (12) just asked me the other day about it -- she loves milk but it doesn't love her. I've actually sent it to camp with her. Over all I say it works for us. I purchase it just about anywhere (Walgreens, Wal-mart, grocery stores) the current brand I have is Sundown but have purchased other name brands. We usually take 2 when we feel the need but may take that dose more than once during a day. I often encourage others to try it. Hope this helps.
