  1. Writing Strands just did not work for us either. My daughter thought it was "boring". We dropped it and have just been using the writing assignments in PLL and ILL (I have kiddos in both books) which are the suggested LA with MFW, no other formal writing, yet.
  2. If Streams doesn't work you could try H.A. Gueber's 'Story or the Ancient World' put out by Nothing New Press (Christine Miller). I think MoH would be a little redundant and might be overload for the children. CtG and the other years are really full curriculum. I really think it might be a bit much to add too much more. If you REALLY want to add it, I agree w/Donna on using it as a book basket type reader.
  3. I've found some goods tips from Simply Charlotte Mason. Look at the big picture (such as 4, 5 or 6 year history rotation and other subjects you want to cover). Then break the current year into terms and from there subjects can be divided into number of days per week. I then schedule my resources based on number of chapters in books or lessons to be covered each week. That's a rough overview of how I schedule. :001_smile:
  4. Try removing the seeds or try serrano peppers in place of the jalapenos. They are often on the milder side.
  5. I don't have any of the task cards but with each word list there is a phonics/spellng rule that you have the student write down (or you copy for them). It includes examples of that rule and then that particular word list is made up of words that follow that rule and a few review words from previous lists. Every few weeks I review the rules we've covered with my child. If you can get your hands on a book to look at you will see how it makes more sense. It was really hard for me to grasp the program until I was able to look at the book and see the activities suggested to enforce the learning. Hope that helps some. Erika
