I'm planning on doing Sonlight Core 4 2009-10 but I keep hearing the Landmark spine is dry and boreing. Any suggestions on what you would replace it with? Has anyone done this? How easy is it to do with their IG? What does WP use for American Story 2?

I will be switching my ds (3rd grader) from Abeka 3 arithmetic to Saxon 5/4 or 6/5 depending on how he tests on the placement test next month. Has anyone had experience with this switch? How did your dc do? If they scored 6/5 level how did that work out for them? Do you feel they missed out on anything? In hindsite would you have gone back and covered some things in Saxon 5/4? What was your child's reaction going from colorful pages to black and white?

I would like a chronological study of God's word that digs deeper than your typical Bible story curriculums. I have been looking into precept upon precept Inductive bible study for kids (Kay Arthur Discover 4 kids). Is this good? If so which would you suggest to start with?

I am doing it with my 8, 6, and 4 year old boys and they absolutely love it. I am 39 and I absolutely love it. I have learned so much from Fulbright and enjoyed how the book reads. Maybe you can find a more appropriate level to be his spine and have Expoloring creation with Astronomy be one of his readers. I believe he will enjoy the book.

In case anyone wants to read the bible verse everyone is making reference to it is I Corinthians 11:14-15 "Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering." Keep in mind this verse is not saying that women have to have long hair. It says IF a woman has long hair it is her glory. Also note the context in the begining of verse 14 "the very nature of things...". It is just saying basic human awareness lets you know God has given men testosterone which speeds up hair loss in men. On the contrary, God has given woman estrogen causing our hair to grow longer and for longer time. In funny terms...God's nifty plan made man to natrually go bald and woman to natrually be beautiful (short and long hair). Rarely do you see a bald woman. Having said that...I do thank God for the covering of protection he has given us with husbands...which the hair also symbolizes.

I have SOTW vol. 1 & 2, A Childs History of the World (CHOW) and Usborne's ancient World, midieval world, ancient Greece, Internet-linked Roman World. Considering my boys ages should I read aloud SOTW and assign CHOW to the 9 yo or the other way around? Which do you think the younger ones would enjoy more?

Do you use something else as your spine or is CC your spine and you add on books suggested from the Veritas Cards? What do you do for the Science? Right now we do Exploring creation with Astronomy and I was planning on doing the Botony and Human Anatomy (due to come out this summer) ones for next year, but with the cycle 1 being Biology and Earth Science I guess it would be best to change that. What do you think? I combine everyone for Bible, History and Science.

I am considering putting my boys in classical conversations for the 2009-2010 year. Can anyone give me feedback on their experience with this program. Do the kids like it or is the large quantity of memory work "not fun" for them?

Embrace her and love her even more. Let her know you are praying for God to give her the strenghth to endure whatever God has for her future. Let her know that you are there for her but even better is that Chirst is there to take her by the hand. I wouldn't go put her on birth control that only tells her that pre-marital sex is fine. I will be praying that God give you wisdom in all things.

At times My ds loves to break off a big piece and eat it without cooking. Could this be harmful???
