No littles at home but 16yearold only asked for a game and bath bombs. Having fun but overwhelmed with choose grandbaby gifts they will be 3, almost 2 and 4 months Christmas with the 3 and 2 year old having birthdays right before and after.
My grandsons are really hard to buy for at 4 and 2. They already have about every building type toy, play food, tons of cars and truck, railroads, magnets, stuffed animals, etc. I'm not even sure there are things left for the little one to get. I do know they don't have Lincoln Logs. I may have found a loophole!

Very nice!
For my folks 50th anniversary I took their address book and sent their anniversary announcement out with a 'toast' from us girls.
They ended up getting some cards and some calls. Even a couple gifts. They weren't getting out much back then.

This is a good point, and I definitely have some people in mind already. For one, I really want to get one of these teens to put the newspaper together, because I HATE the design element of it, and I'm certain one of them will love it.
would park days end if you didn't go? Set a plan for dates/locations and whomever shows shows that day. Seems like that or the PE classes provide social time and activity. You could probably do without one of them
Love the tours but weekly might be too often for others besides you. Do many of the same families attend all the classes you lead? Or how about scheduling some classes you lead for either the first 1/2 of the year or the second half? Do them all but 1/2 the time.

You'd be surprised how much 13 yo boys love a roll of duct tape to call their own . . . . . . (it was originally done in self-defense, so they'd leave ours alone.)
that's a good stocking stuffer from age 10 or so!

Tools for when they leave home, model kits, wood burning kit, other hobby type stuff? By then my boys closets were bulging from too many shirts. lol I got them each their own set of towels in high school. A good game with add on sets that they like?

Hmm. That's an interesting one. You puree the beans and add amendments?
No. Literally grind the beans in a coffee grinder or such. Then add broth and some spices. Been quite a while since I did it. May have used my grain mill??

Another 'cream of' soup option is to grind white northern beans and mix with broth, celery seed and poultry seasoning or other spices.

Confession—I’ve never made curry of any kind. 😬
And I've only made Japanese curry with a boxed product. You have to add the potatoes and carrots and meat, if you want.

Breakfast burritos and a fruit tray.
I am one who's gotten up to make the egg bakes for work. Ham saves you time over having to cook sausage.
I buy the big bags of Jimmy Dean sausage patties from the freezer and then scramble a bunch of eggs that morning, too.
Guys like homemade muffins, too.

IIf I leave a glass of water half empty on the coffee table overnight.... I often just drink it the next morning. Is bacteria growing in there? Who knows!
We both ignore the mildew in the bathtub though....
Well, to be fair no one uses the tub here, either! Yes, mugs from tea or hot water--and those water glasses are just fine the next day! Haven't gotten sick yet! haha
I read of someone not washing their muffin pans, and that made sense to me! I use paper liners all the time, so unless I miss the liner, no problem!

Most is 837 craft ideas. Least is picture books-4. Just started that one. Most unusual? Notes, cards, and letters?

Freeze them! Blueberry muffins, banana or zucchini bread with blueberries, yellow cake with blueberries. Fresh berry pie with a graham cracker or a regular crust. Use with any mix of berries. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/223496/fresh-no-bake-fruit-pie/
I love the homemade syrup, too.

You might check on the licensure, who is doing the checks, whether that is all residents or only memory care, etc. We had one place that does that, but they weren't licensed and were using home health aides, not LPNs. Some people find it intrusive to have people keying into their apartment like that and I wouldn't want that for my dad. All residents should be wearing a pendant but that's something you can do without moving him.
If he likes his home, you might ask his doc for inhome therapy to assess fall risk and do some fall prevention stuff. And definitely put a pendant on him. Moving is very stressful and might not be worth it if he's happy (not needing better meals or more social) and if you're able to step up inhome services.
He may want to use a walker all the time. It may prevent falls for a while. I'm trying hard to keep my folks in their home. Dad uses a walker all the time since he had a fall and busted his leg big time and went through a horrible year or more of recovery. Affected many more lives than just his.

Sil is in AL, and it truly is not like an apartment, but more like a shared bath and tiny living room and the two bedrooms. Meals are all in the dining room, and it is similar to a nursing home. She is in low income housing status and Medicaid pays for it. Works in this state, anyway.

Or if you're already reduced to low income housing when you need AL, then medicaid will pay. May share an apartment (i.e. living room, bathroom, 2 bedroom room in a place that resembles a nursing home, but it's covered.

Reading: Gilead by Marilynne Robinson, Savage Run by C.J.Boxx, The Indigo Girl by Natasha Boyd.
Watching: Dh and I are watching Bosch and Man with a Plan. I'm watching Packed to the Rafters, Death in Paradise, and Rebecka Martinsson. Need to watch season three of Virgin River and last of Call the Midwife.
Listening: Been using Gilmore Girls for office background- haha. Otherwise Pandora stations- christian, and several 70s themed if I find time.

My mother constantly asks me to make sure I'm saving them to pass down to my grandchildren. There have been a very few I've given away, but she would be horrified to know of even those.
I think that's a lot of unfair pressure on you, expecting you to hold on to things. Maybe she could store the ones your girls have grown out of, if she wants them saved. Just say you don't have the room and they'll have to go (except for a few of your favorites) unless she has the storage room. How many dresses are we talking over time? And girls just don't seem to wear them that much anymore...

Think it's the Avocado we got. Without the topper, it's definitely like a board! And if you keep it stainfree they will restuff it if needed within 20 years! No VOCs either.

Why do you keep buying Purple if they don't last? Are you worried the more expensive one won't last either? Are they that comfortable that they are worth it?
Her boyfriend keeps hoping they will be decent? haha Kids!

Dd and SO have gone through 3 Purple mattresses in 6 months and are going for a pricier version they have. Defintely don't recommend their cheaper mattress.

PSA: If you have central AC, make sure you have a clean air filter in your furnace! A dirty one blocks the air flow.

Six PM wedding
in The Chat Board
Posted
We're attending a 6pm wedding in August. The wedding is planned this late to avoid having to serve dinner. Instead they are having some hors deuerves and then an ice cream bar. (bride doesn't like cake.) So you may want to eat beforehand.
