I am so very sorry.

I am not a morning person so no, I don't wake my kids. These days they are all up by 8am anyway.

I agree, I would get him into therapeutic riding and see if he wants to continue the horseback riding lessons after he tries it. Get him into sports if you can. Do you have local leagues or sports centers?

We love MUS. I'm terrible with math myself and MUS teaches the concepts in a way that makes it click for me and allows me to teach it to my kids properly. A bonus for us was that my accountant aunt who had a full ride to college uses MUS with her children and one is now in the best tech college in the state.

Whoa Nelly. I'm glad that she's okay. Your birth story has me shaking like a leaf over here after four pre-eclamptic pregnancies of my own.

Yep. My Sienna is 11 years old. DH's Toyota Avalon is 17.

Add me to the list of those who hated Teach Your Child To Read In 100 Easy Lessons.

I'm in the mitten too. It is ridonkulous. The snow from last night melted and now it's snowing again. Yet, it was 70 two days ago... I feel the urge to yell out the window, "Go home, Michigan, you're drunk!"

A sprain, perhaps? Or a deep bruise that you're not seeing? I frequently bruise my feet and you can't see the purpling on the outside of my foot but I sure feel it. Maybe a slight fracture?

This year I bought a ridiculous amount of curriculum. BUT it was also because I found good package deals and Math-U-See had their student sets on clearance so I bought uh, 1-6 grade math seeing that my aunt is handing down her teacher's guides and dvds after her kids finish with them and it's the older stuff. We bought a lot that would be used for many years to come (including all of the Life of Fred elementary series) and some encyclopedias on top of the regular curriculum that we needed just for this fall. With loads of curriculum, extra books, and school supplies I spent $1107. If I had bought just the stuff needed for this coming school year, it would have been around $500. I also bought pretty much the whole Ambleside Online year 1 curriculum to use over this summer (and possibly next) so it was double the curriculum.
I'm okay with that because we're set on math and science for years to come and everything else is handed down seeing that my oldest is starting 1st grade this fall and there are four youngers.

If you don't count doing FIAR with my 3, 4, and 5 year olds this year, we're starting this coming September. I'll have 4, 5, and 6 year olds listening in for science, history, and Bible. The 4 and 5 year olds will be doing the same reading, writing, and math. The 6 year old will be up a level. I'll expect the 5 and 6 year olds to actually take part in the family subjects, the 4 year old will likely tag along because she enjoys doing what the big kids are doing.

We take it easy during K but he'll be joining in his 1st grade sister's curriculum if he feels like doing so.
Reading: OPGTR and Bob Books (if he doesn't finish them all this summer which is highly likely that he will finish) along with other readers.
Writing: Handwriting Without Tears K.
Math: MUS Primer
He'll join his sister in Real Science 4 Kids Chemistry and likely listen to SOTW volume 1. He might do some All About Spelling level 1 if he's in the mood but I won't require him to do it with us. Of course, he'll listen to the read alouds that we do too. Oops, I forgot that for Bible we'll read from The Jesus Storybook Bible and A Child's Story Bible as well as attending AWANA and Sunday school classes.

No, we have a three seater couch and a two seater loveseat. However, the room is open so if we're upstairs, we also have the dining room chairs too if needed. In the family room/playroom we have a three seater couch, a two seater loveseat, and a desk chair. We can also drag over four homeschooling table chairs if needed but they aren't very comfortable.
If I had more moolah, I'd buy a sectional and a few chairs for the family which is where we are most of the time.

Praying.

Praying for them. How awful. :(

I am pretty sure that it's taught again in Alpha. However, I learned that after purchasing Primer so we went ahead and used it before Alpha.

My in-laws bought us a fridge and washer/dryer set. Nothing fancy, definitely at the low end of the price range but they were all things that were necessary and that are still in good shape almost 6 years later.

I am so, so sorry. Praying for you.

I chose Math U See because I'm terrible at math and it made concepts make sense to me that didn't before.

Yes, he is still attracted to me and I am to him. We're not as young as we once were and hoo boy did my body change after 4 babies in less than 4 years (all singletons) but he still thinks I'm the most beautiful woman in the world. He doesn't seem to see the extra 50lbs and stretchmarks.

Which level of Chemistry did you order?
Pre-level but I didn't receive it.
Almost all of my d'Aulaire books also had display model stickers all over them and were clearly used.

Mine are all 5 or younger and call me Mom most of the time. Sometimes it is still mama. I rarely got Mommy.

Find a conditioner that works for you, get a decent gel, and "plop" your hair into a microfiber towel when you are freshly out of the shower. Just put the towel on the closed toilet, lean over and slowly bend over so your hair is piled on the top of your head before tying the towel on.
