  1. I was born and raised Catholic and left the church about 20 years ago. I was lucky and went to a Church of Christ with a good friend whose kids were friends with my kids. I didn't always like the church but since the kids were motivated to go it was much easier to keep going on a regular basis. I really miss the Catholic Mass sometimes. I loved the old church and the whole ritual of it. I miss the Catholic community, but my beliefs are too different and there are things I just can't abide by.
  2. I take adderall xr, the little balls in it are time released not the capsule that's why I can open them and just take half.
  3. Do you have to have random urine tests to make sure you are taking your meds? I've been on Adderall xr for years and have never had to have a urine test. My doc says she has to start doing random urinalysis now. I'm just curious about this. To stretch my meds because they cost so much, I sometimes take 1/2 a capsule until we can afford the next rx or I skip a day if I don't "need" my meds.
  4. I have to add my 2 cents :D My dd had some kind of peach body spray that smelled so much like cat pee that when she sprayed it I spent 30 minutes sniffing carpeting. Needless to say I made her throw it out!
  5. That is AWESOME!!!! I'm printing that out! LOL Love it!
  6. Why is it that humming really irks some people? Like me :D I can take it for a few minutes, but when it goes on and on it just really gets on my nerves. It got me wondering how others feel about it. Does humming bug you or not?
  7. [quote name=Kareni;4439579 If you have the ISBN you can check ISBN.nu to search for low cost used copies. Regards' date=' Kareni[/quote] Thanks!
  8. I'm thinking about using TOG for History and literature for my ds. Our library is not very helpful and I don't want to buy the books new. What are some good sources for picking up used books for TOG? Amazon market? Paperbackswap? Anything else?
  9. I used SL for a few years and loved all the books, but I tweaked it way too much. I'm using MP's full 4th grade with dd9 and she is thriving! We don't use R&S, but we use ALL the MP stuff. Your dc are pretty young and I think doing all MP with them would be time consuming unless you can combine them in a few subjects. Tanya at MP is great at helping you combine dc! That being said, I'm not sure how long MP would take you so I'll just share what our experience is. My dd does a lot of MP on her own. We do the first lesson of Latin together so I know she has a good grasp of it and I do daily reviews with her. She does all her own reading for Famous Men, Christian Studies, Lit, Science and Geography and we do most of the questions together orally and I do daily reviews of "facts to know" and recitations. She is usually done with all subjects by 2:00 so she has plenty of time for reading. I've got a lot of SL books that I assign her in the afternoon. So, I think I would pick either SL or MP to be your main curriculum and just add in components of the other one. I think MP and SL complement each other pretty well!
  10. My dd (9) took piano lessons from age 5-8. She was much like your ds, she did well but hated it and never played for pleasure. I let her quit when she was 8. After a little over a year of no piano, she sat down and started playing then asked if she could take lessons again. I told her she could, but she had to take it seriously. She had to make a commitment to practice 30 minutes every day without me nagging and commit to a year of lessons. She has been practicing 45+ minutes each day and I never have to remind her. I think after a few years of lessons if a child really dislikes music lessons, why force it.
  11. Someone on Facebook mentioned it and I googled it but really didn't come up with anything definitive. Since 4 of my kids are in their 20's and my last two are 9 and 13, I'm kind of out of the loop.
  12. The lectures are available in digital download or dvds. Since it's a lecture would it be okay to just get the audio download or do the visuals on the dvds add a lot?
  13. I did a better search and found A LOT of info! Eliana and Lori D. were especially helpful.
  14. translations for me? Fagles and Butler in specific. I'm trying to decide if I should go with MP's study of Homer which uses Butler or MFW which uses Fagles. Is there a thread on this that I may have missed?
