  1. It is going pretty well, although my oldest (6yrs. old) really hates reading out loud and writing. I have backed off of making him read aloud, and have taken the reading upon myself. I know in time he will feel more at ease doing it. I do stick to my guns with writing at least 2x/week, as I feel that is good practice. He feels that if he cannot get something right the first time, he can't do it, and gets very frustrated. It is hard not to get frustrated, too, sometimes, but we're pushing ahead. We do have a co-op that they go to every Friday for 2hrs, so that is lovely!
  2. I am so torn between these two curriculums! I really like how TOG is set up, but I also love the Sonlight book selections. Somewhere I heard there is a list of Sonlight books set up in the 4-year cycle, but I can't seem to find it. Also, has anyone ever used both TOG and Sonlight together, or is that just ridiculously hard to do?
  3. I really can't add more than what the others have said, except to echo their sentiments. My dh's family used that (ATI) for some time, and his stepmother will say ATI/Gothard did a lot of good for them. I know they believe in all the beat/music business, as she could barely stand the Johnny Cash I had playing for the kids when we went on a long car ride!:tongue_smilie: Just the name Gothard gives me the shivers..
  4. Oh, those pyramids at Walmart sound really neat! Where in Wm did you find them? I am on week 3, so we're finishing up Egypt, and we'll be on the creation week next. I guess I will find out soon if it ends up confusing my son or not. :tongue_smilie:
  5. I just have a feeling McCain will, especially with Palin now on the ticket. I think she will be appealing to women who may not have had any interest with McCain thus far.
  6. Blokus!! We LOVE this game. It is for ages 5-adult. :)
  7. We really enjoy the Prima Latina with the DVDs. The DVDs really help, IMO. I can't imagine trying to teach it otherwise!
  8. That's awesome you found something that clicked with your child! I know it is such a great feeling when that happens. We're using Singapore, but find my son has trouble with some of the concepts. We're taking it very slow at this point. :)
