  1. Dear all, I was wondering if it is really necessary to do all the HIG tasks. Most of the time DS understands all the TB, WP and IP books by himself. He also don't need all the drill work. Het gaps it really easy whitout forgetting things. For grade 3 I am going to switch to Beast Academy. I feel that Singapore Math is to eassy for him.

  2. Dear all, how did you plan Aops during highschool ? Could you finish all the books. And what is a normal planning. Did you finish every year one book? Can I find out somewhere a planning for the complete curriculum . My DS is very good with Math and is flying through SM . We are planning to buy Beast Academy . But I wanted to know how to plan AOPS in advance . Thanks, visitor

  3. It was interesting in our case because BA was announced as a future program just as I had pared down what had been a multiple curriculum approach down to just using Primary Mathematics, with a little supplementation with Zaccaro books and some introductory algebra games. Looked like smooth sailing.

Then BA started looming. We won "the lottery" and were sent evaluation copies of the "Sample" and I knew right then my plans of stream-lining were foiled. The boy loved BA. And continues to.

So the choice came down to dropping PM (which I wasn't willing to do), not using BA (which was unthinkable), or doing both.

A nice feature of BA is that isn't a "drugery" type approach. PM is somewhat more so, but for my kid the balanced and methodical approach of Singapore was a nice complement to BA (and vice-versa).

Kids are different. I don't think mine would have fared as well with BA alone. Yin/Yang. Apollo/Dionysus. That sort of idea.

. Bill could you please tell me how you supplement BA with SM. Do you stil use all the PM books? Or did you cut down some books of PM. And how much time do you spend on Math each day? Thanks in advance Visitor
  4. I find it very difficult . I didnt buy BA yet but I strongly feel that BA and SM (WB, TB, IP, CWP and HIG) will be to much. I strongly feel that both programs are perfect . I really like to know how the SM parents plan both programs without giving to many time in Maths only ??????

  5. Dear all, how do you supplement Beast Accademy with Singapore Math. Do you use all SM books (like WB, IP, CWP and HIG) or did you cut down some books from Singapore Math. And how do you plan your Math during the day or week? I really like both math programs . Thanks, Visitor

  6. Dear all, we are currently working with Singapore Math standard edition grade 1 . We work with all the books ( HIG, workbooks, IP , Process Skills and Problem Solving Beyond the classroom and a little bit of CWP) . I would like to know how much time you spend dailly on SM with your kids. We spend between 45 minutes a day Sometimes an hour . We do HIG , workbook and IP in the morning and in the evening CWP work. My DS is very mathy and he loves it but i cant remember that I did that much math at his age....
