Hi all,
I am doing kindergarten math with my DS but Singapore math Earlybird is really just to easy for him. My question is what to do? Just finish the books and go to 1a Primary or try an other math program for kindergarten .
I am afraid that I will start with 1A to early and hit to a wall.
I and my DS really like the Singapore method . But I which it would be more challenging. I know that earlybird is a California book.
Perhaps the reall Singapore math books from Singapore would be more challenging.
Any way I have found this site. www.sgbox.com . They have the singapore books from singapore . Are there any parents which have experience with this books?

Hi all,
My DS is going to start with the kindergarten curriculum. He is almost 4 years old.
For now I am doing with him the following:
Earlybird singapore math kindergarten (book A)
Dutch phonics program + Free reading
Free playing with his brother
And lots of reading aloud . We are also going to start with English as his third language.
How does your curriculum look like?
Any tips how to start english with him is also very welcome . Or good books?
Thanks ,

Hi all, I hope for some help. I live in europe and my DS is doing great with his math . I decided to teach him math with Singapore because of there great result and math is very easy for him. I looked op the site but can only buy the US and standard (California) edition. My question is are the both at the same level as the original Singapore curriculum ? Or is it more easy? Because I don't live in the US I prefer the same level as in Singapore . I hope someone can help me out because I have to buy the books as soon as possible
-
Thanks the reason why I wanted the standerd version is because I live in Europe. And the standards are easier to get for me then the US version. Thanks for the info. I still wanted to know what the difference is between PM standard and My Pals are here I hope someone can help me out.....

Hello all,
After many reading on this forum I have found out that many homeschool parents use singapore math with an other math program. Could you tell me which other math program you use and why do you use this program in particular , do you feel that there something is missing on singapore math ?
I always thought that singapore math would be more then enough, I am really curieus to your answers. For now miquon math sounds interesting to me.
Hope to benefit from your answers..
Thanks,

Trust me (and many others on the board). The lack of marking is a benefit, not a drawback. My kids were able to quickly understand that white-1, red-2, light green-3, etc. The rods help the child see that 2 and 3 make 5 without counting the lines.
Thanks Erine, I am going to think about it and talk it out with my husband. Thanks a lot

thanks for above tips. i was just shopping around for more curriculum for my DS1 aged 4. might look into the miquon math concepts and books. was getting singapore math essentials for him :)
I also have singapore math early bird and I like it a lot. I wanted to combine it with miquon math.
-
Thanks bill for your motivations, I like miquon but it is the c rods which worry me a bit. I do not like it because you can not see the amounts it is based on colour and length. I think I will use math u see in combination with miquon is that possible ? I will certainty take your advise and will also buy the teachers guide as well and other materials
-
Also get the three Teachers books. They are the key to using Miquon.
I would also suggest a set of base-10 "flats" so you can work on building 3 digit numbers with manipulatives.
Bill
Thanks Bill this really helps me out!!!

Thanks all for your answers I am going to order the orange book and the c rods

My question is does miquon math have à kindergarden program. My ds is almost 4 years old. I liked the concept but I saw that the first book starts at grade 1
