  1. Dear all,

DS5 is good with math , but he needs a more hands on approach . He loves Singapore Math , but I think something as Miquon will give him a better start as he likes to work with manipulatives .

I am going to start with Singapore 1A Standard Edition as well . How can I make it work and how do I plan this. Does he need to start with Miquon and finish the orange book ,or work with both curriculums in a day /week.

DS just finished Singqpore Earlybird B .

    Thanks in advanced ,

  2. Dear all, my Ds7 is being borred with his old toys. At this moment he only loves to play Kapla . I stopted buying cars and trains because he only plays 1 day with them and then he wont even look at them . After our schoolday we take my boys outside to play but at home DS7 always tell me that he feels borred . So I need to buy new toys which he can play without me . DS loves my tablet , and building things . Please help me :-)

  3. We used AoPS Pre -A + Understanding Geometry during grade 7+8, it took us about 18 months but we skipped all the callenging problems as dd isn't a math lover :)

Otherwise it took us 2 years.

Somewhere during secondary level you'll have to choose a track.

    Math - Sciences

Devotes more time to math then dd's Latin-Modern Languages.

But to pas exams you'll have to supplement AoPS already, so I don't know if you'll find the time for 3 math curriculums.

If you would know SM covers the missing math topics geared to the exams it could be a solution.

So that will be another night reading and comparing examprograms ;)

Thanks Loesje, I already compared SM with the Belgium examenprogram and I was very pleased that most of the Belgium topics , were covered by SM . SM covers more though. SM7 covered the Belgium 1e graad math exams.

At this moment DS loves Science and Math the most but I don't know if he will still do in the future.

  6. Dear all,

I need to supplement my Science. We are using 2nd grade Singapore Science . And it is just to basic.

I cant move on to the 3rd grade because he needs to work more on his English. English is his 2nd language.

I am searching for something secular and with a rich vocabulary .

We already use the lets read and find out science books. DS would love more hands on activities as well.

    Thanks in advanced ,
