I feel like when I have asked as to why we study Latin I would usually always get the answer because it helps us understand English grammar better.
I also heard it can be a benefit when learning a second language. But I spose I wonder if we dont want to "read" Latin if its necessary to really learn it.
Following an English grammar program maybe wont be AS good as doing both English Grammar AND Latin. But doing a good English Grammar
by itself is good enough? So many really seem to feel Latin is worth the time and I pulls on me :)
My hubby and I have talked through this many times and the time it takes to learn it is our biggest concern. He really thinks Spanish or something else would
be more beneficial. But I keep having the "they wont learn grammar as well" and the other reasons???? Ha well Ive heard some others ones too. I guess Im
just not thinking they are good enough reasons to spend that much time on it. Each family is different which I totally understand. We are a ranch family and
are very very busy outdoors and are trying to keep our school load good, but minimal. Its a hard decision at the moment.
