this is for K/1st grade
I had to go to the doctor with my mother today so my older daughter was able to do school with the little ones ( while still getting her college work done) by using the boxes I had prepared last night. These boxes were all things they could do without instruction - good practice.
If it hadn't been for workboxes they would not have done any school!

I'm told that you can buy the book, and other helps and do cc at home- for the structure of the memory work that it gives you and a plan for your future schooling. The cost of this would be $150.00 for the book and cards- there are also extras you could purchase.From what I am told the book has alot of helps in it. I'm going to look at my friends next week. It sounds really good to me but I wouldn't join a group at this point-maybe later.

I just wanted to add that my boys are 15 months apart they know one is older than the other - but I"m not sure they know that one should be in a different "grade" than the other because I have always done everything with them together, part of the reason I homeschool is for the relationships it forms between siblings. This past year when my 6yr old needed to move ahead and the 4 yr didn't I just moved ahead with the 6 but never made an issue of it. The 4 yr old just sort of listened in- then one day he just started reading the same stuff and was caught up. I will continue to customize their learning as needed while still "schooling" together. I hope that makes some sort of sense.

I have a 6 year old and 4 year old and what you have described is exactly what I am going to do with my 2 this year. I considered MFW 1 but decided on K, I will move on into more ETC 1 when we finish the Get ready books. We are also using SWR, and I'm going to do Right Start A along with Abeka 1st grade math ( because I have it) I also am going to add some Living Learning Books Science level 1 the units that go along with mfwk scince topics, & Fiar. We are going to make a sort of mini lapbook for each topic because I really wanted a way to organize the work they are going to do. I'm very excited about the year. I always try to praise each childs strong qualities and I don't compare them. There are some things my 4yr can do better than the 6 yr. But there are all some things the 6 yr can do better. Somehow we manage to keep a balance and have not had any problems so far. ( we did prek/k together last year. Also I'm not going to call it k- call it 1st if you want , call it k/1 thats what I'm doing. It fits everybodys needs that way.

It sounds to me like all of the advice you are getting about combining this and that will not fit the need/desire you have to have good books, hands on with an already planned schedule. MFW sounds like it would be the best fit for you. It has everything you are asking for. According to where your 1st and Ker are they could probably do the same program- you need it for them for the phonics unless you are going to do another phonics program. Sonlight is really easy to get caught up in doing to much. I've been there and done that. I've also been down the road of spending all of my time planning and scheduling then not having the time I need to actually teach all of the wonderful things I'd planned. I am really trying now to realize that the teaching is the important part and spend my money on curriculum like MFW that is going to save me my time on planning, but still fit my needs. I "might" add a sonlight book in every once in awhile, but I am continually reminding myself not to try to do it ALL. IF you went with MFW you could get the SOTW cd's and let everyone listen to them together as an extra.
Thats what I would do.

I am trying to decide between a Diana Zike book or The ultimate lapbook book. Which of these would you recommend or is there something else. If you like Diana Zike which book is the best for lapbook making?

This is her first litter, she has had one but not delivered the placenta. We know there are more how long should it be between puppies? It has about 45 minutes. Should I be worried?
