  1. Jean I'll pm it to you in just a few. Thank you!!
  2. I'd love some input on my daughter's transcript which will be submitted tomorrow for her college app. It's two pages and there are no course descriptions. Just looking for general input and hopefully you won't catch a typo! 😭 Thank you!!
  3. Thanks I wasn't sure, mainly bc I thought I read that somewhere. But I agree with what you are saying. And the kid got 5, so happy here!
  4. Have you ever given more than a full credit for a yearlong course? The one I'm considering is an AP Comp and Lit course that wasn't through the public school but through a very demanding college/dual enrolled course. Also, is there a transcript "expert" out there who wouldn't mind looking over our transcript today and tell us what you think? If so, please pm me. I want to get it all in today. It's two pages and no course descriptions. Thank you!! (Xposted on college board)

  6. I think Ds wants to. I really, really don't to with the two separate ceremonies, a reception for one and an all night party after the other. I didn't even remember the special trip he's taking across th U.S. until I saw a similar post. This is the oldest with many siblings. I think at the homeschooling reception one, you can invite all you want also.
  7. Thanks RootAnn. Still looking for a free option for second semester Survey of American Literature. One of our kids was halfway through with Jess Woods class. She was the English chair at Landry and we can't continue with her for $140.
  8. Forgot to add we have zero family in the area so all the people he'd likely want to see would be at the 2 ceremonies, the reception already being put in by the homeschoolers, and the all night party.

  10. Xpost HS forum Please talk to me about these. Do you HAVE to do one for your grad? Does everybody do one? Is it a regional thing? Where I grew up, some kids had evening grad parties, but not a day thing when people drop by your home during designated hours of the day and you keep the food and all going. Around here, people stop by several grad open houses in a day. Ds who has been dual enrolled at the p.s., has three things happening already: a grad ceremony and food reception put on by the homeschoolers in the region. It's an afternoon event with food and music during the ceremony, and there's time at the reception for friends to visit your table and display of all one's high school achievements. He also will be taking part in the public school grad ceremony- a big event but all ceremony. Then, that night there is an all night chaperoned event that all the p.s. grads take part in. After two ceremonies, a reception after one and an all night party...do you think a home open house is over doing it??? This grad also has a special trip in the summer. I don't want to. There's more than enough on our plates already with getting ready for college and other siblings. Thanks and Happy New Year!

  12. Yes he does. And although it's months away, I've seen a change in his personality. He seems waay more serious and like he's preparing for something awful. He didn't tell me initially about his feelings, but I figured it out when he was always wanting to come along when she would be where we were going. He started talking to me about his hairstyle and took more interest in his clothes. Also, he made sure he personally delivered our Christmas card to her. When I asked him, he confirmed.
  13. Please don't quote this!!!! Our thirteen year old son is very smitten with a girl one grade behind him. She is a very sweet girl and we are friends and enjoy her family very much. It's not from afar, but someone he and we see often. But...they are moving in the fall for military reasons and will be gone for four years and then return to our area. While gone, it will be out of state, so not likely our families will see each other at all during that time. He will be 17 when they return and of course everything will be different. Our kids don't "date" at this age, so this is nothing more than a sweet friendship. However, between now and when they leave, I'm at a loss at what to do and say. He'd like to have the whole family over. I'm worried about him getting hurt when they go. I also don't want to say "hey they're leaving so guard your heart and don't open up to people" that are really decent human beings. I think it's mutual with her too. He's very mature in the wisdom department for his age. He doesn't view girls as objects and believes as our family does, that you keep your heart and body for that one person. Help!
  14. Yes. They have no obligation to offer anything. But it seemed like much ado about nothing. It is nice to see other venues offering free platforms to the teachers.
  15. People were rude to Veritas, meaning during the live meeting last night?
  16. Wouldn't it be awesome if Veritas could acquire/absorb Landry and the teachers could keep teaching with better employment conditions and the students could keep their classes and teachers? What great goodwill and witness Veritas could show by stepping it up here. Not merely acquiring a bunch of new students, but helping to absorb a loss that they didn't cause. That would be true sacrifice. Veritas has been at it for a long time. It's unlikely to have the type of problems that Landry did.
  17. Despite the sadness for all involved in these events. It's encouraging to see families trying to rally together and help each other. Hugs especially to those with seniors and those who've invested lots of $$.
  18. What would be important things to print for our records from the site besides the syllabus and grades?
  19. Thanks RootAnn! What you said caught my attention bc I have a student that I'm learning doesn't do well in online formats despite being a very bright kid. Hoping for all here with the Landry situation.
  20. Is there more than one Facebook page? The one I saw hasn't had posts since Dec. 2
  21. Does anyone know if Steven Ashby will be remaining as a teacher? His course is Exercise Physiology/Sports Medicine. Thanks.
  22. I have a senior with one semester left who had an Excercise Physiology and Science class. No word on the staus of that, but it's needed for graduation as a science elective. Also I have a sophmore in English halfway through. His teacher indicated in an email to me she expected to be back, but was hoping to hear more. Her name is Jess Woods and I think she's been a fine teacher. We've also a few hundred invested in generics. I'd recently given one generic as a gift too and that family was just getting signed up. RootAnn you mentioned a daughter said never an online class again. Is this bc of the Landry debacle or something else? We are praying for them. So many futures up in the air. Students, teachers and families left scrambling, money that may be lost and trust affected. Hoping and praying this is resolved well.
