  1. Thank you ladies so much for your responses. I live near Fort Worth Texas and there is a children's hospital, Cooks Children's I think. We just moved here and we took her to the Baylor Medical Center because it is closer. My husband tried to call the hospital but with it being the weekend wasn't able to get a hold of anyone. When the hospital called to set up the CT scan she mentioned the medical credit card and I was denied because I don't have a paying job. My husband will have to apply. When I applied they even asked what it was for and they denied me. A 5 year old child needing surgery!
  2. I have been stressing and crying about this all weekend. My little girl fell and broke her elbow Thursday evening so we took her to the ER and they splinted it and referred us to an orthopedic specialist who says she needs surgery. The doctor ordered a CT scan and that is when we found out our crappy insurance won't pay a dime until the $5000.00 deductible is met (long story). Well, we don't happen to have $5000.00 at the moment. Anybody have any advice?
  3. I really liked this thread as it has inspired me, along with the cooler weather (finally), to find some yummy fall recipes for the crock pot. So, here is one of my families favorites. Even my picky little eater likes it. Easy Crock Pot Minestrone 1 lb. ground turkey 1 medium onion, chopped 2 16 oz. cans petite diced tomatoes 1 16 oz. can tomato sauce 4- 6 cups water 4 beef bouillon cubes 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 1/2 italian seasoning 1 can white beans drained and rinsed 1 bag of frozen mixed veggies about 4-6 cups 1-2 cups chopped celery Any other veggies on hand 1-2 pkgs. cheese totellini Put all liquid ingredients and bouillon cubes in crock pot to start warming. In skillet brown ground turkey and onions. Add to crock pot. Add remaining ingredients (except tortellini) and mix well. I heat this on high one hour and then let it cook the rest of the day on low. One hour before dinner add the tortellini. I usually serve this with cornbread or home made bread. Enjoy!
  4. You are packing, come across your Control Journal, pick it saying to yourself...hmmm, what is this? You are packing, walk past the computer as you are looking for the Sharpie, and say to yourself.....I'll just check my mail real quick. 20 minutes later........ You get back to the box you just packed to label it and forget what is inside. You know, I LOVE Flylady, but I think I'm a hopeless case.:tongue_smilie:
  5. Welcome...........just take it one day at a time! :001_smile:
  6. Tell me about your plans and let me live vicariously. We are moving this summer, twice. I would much rather go camping. When we get settled my hubby and I want to get a pop up camper and go camping when it cools off a bit-later this summer/ early fall. (We are in Texas, 101 degrees today :tongue_smilie:) What are your favorite camp grounds? Any tips? Is there anything I should know about pop ups? Happy Camping!
  7. I'm so sorry for your family's loss. :grouphug:
  8. I'm thinking camping at a remote beach, no tv, no phones, no whining, just books and long walks on the beach at sunset......(heavy sigh);)
  9. One word of caution regarding red-eared sliders: it is really easy to over feed them, causing them to outgrow their aquarium. Ask me how I know... What did you feed it? We got some aquatic turtle food put he is not very interested in it. Thanks everyone for your replies. I feel better about keeping him now and I laid down the law on handwashing.
  10. My son found a turtle down at the stream near our home and has fallen in love with him. He already named the little guy Bowser. I did some research and found out there is a risk of salmonella poisoning when keeping turtles. Any advice? Thanks!
  11. and I just cried. Toy Story 1 was my oldest Dd's favorite movie when she was a tiny toddler and she will be going to college in just THREE years! Starting to tear up again...:(
