  1. No, that wasn't it either-I think that takes off the ads down the side, etc. Whatever I did was free and took off the little words type ad in bold print that looks like it's the first email in the inbox. any other ideas?
  2. Some of the PP guides are written much better than others to be meaty and thought-provoking and thorough! Bronze Bow is an example of one I've used that is good. Do you have any that you've thought were especially well done? Which ones, and by what author? (wondering if the different PP authors make the difference!) thanks!
  3. Actually, it says the shelf life is guaranteed for 30 days. Does anyone know if we have any wiggle room on this? Are they just *saying* they're guaranteed for that long, but we actually have plenty of time left? It's about 30 days now since I got them, and time has escaped us due to illness and we have to still build the incubator before we can even start the experiment! They have been refrigerated the entire time. The experiment is growing bacteria from various foods off a cutting board, if that matters. Should take us about a week from now to complete it. The petri dishes were $$$ so i can't replace them. Thanks
  4. Rising 9th grade daughter would like to do a one-year US history "refresher" course for 9th grade. We did a lot of world history in the past and jumped around a lot in US information, and now she wants a full one-year American history before moving on. Any ideas for an engaging curriculum for this? I have BJU American Republic, which is an 8th grade text, and it's about the level of detail we'd like. Is it ok to use it though for high school credit? The BJU 11th grade is a little *too* much detail. Also, is the dvd for the BJU American Republic a good add-on to make it more interesting? Or I am open to any other ideas for a one-year high school history that is more interesting and engaging! Christian perspective would be a huge bonus. We really want to just do the whole thing in one year, so TOG, MFW, etc, that separate it into two yrs unfortunately won't work. And we only want to devote maybe 40 minutes or so per day to it, so nothing too in depth, please!

  7. We did do chicken pox when they were little. I've done some poking around with research now and I'm pretty sure we'll at least do tetanus, possibly meningitis but not sure. I am going to get the Sears book, and also talk to our pediatrician, who is pretty balanced and knows my kids well. I've really enjoyed reading these responses-so helpful, thanks!
  8. We did not have our kids fully immunized-we did some (including some MMR but we had the doctor separate them out) and then we got scared off to do the rest based on all the immunization issues we were hearing (plus we strongly suspect that older stepson's Aspergers was caused by immunization-he was born in 1990 when it was the worst of it.) Now my dc are 11 and 14 and going to summer camp for the first time. I'm trying to reason out if I should finish their immunizations or not for that. Is it generally considered more safe to have them immunized at this age than at a younger age? Are there ways of mitigating any possible problems? What are the reasons for and against having them immunized at this point? Are there certain immunizations that are more beneficial to have than others? Are there certain immunizations that are less potentially harmful than others (we would never do Gardisil)? Should I be asking for shots w/out thimersol (sp?) The camp sent a scary letter about meningitis-should we get than immunization? Anything else I should be considering? Also feel free to list any unbiased (as much as possible) up-to-date resources you feel may be helpful for research. Thanks so much!
  9. Thanks for the low so warning-I do have to be careful because my bp is on the low side anyway! The recipe sounds great, thanks!
  10. Blends would be great, I guess-unless there is a fantastic single spice.
  11. Salt-free would be especially great! Need to go lower sodium and hoping good spices will help. What are your favorites? (some salt is ok) I'm hoping for really great to-die-for type spices that are worth spending the money on (they're kind of $$ for our budget, but I don't mind getting them if they're great!) And do you like Tuscan Sunset? Someone recommended it to put in white bean hummus, but I wanted to check if it's well liked first before I buy it!
  12. Thanks, everyone-this is all helpful so far. We just found out that apparently this job has been posted for many, many months, so we're starting to wonder why :glare:
  13. I would love to hear anything and everything you can you tell me about this area-we'd like to live within 1/2 hour max of Norcross, since that's where he'd be working. Feel free to PM me if you prefer! -how is the economy, housing, school/property taxes, etc.? -Norcross itself looks like housing is kind of pricey? What are good suburbs to settle in for a family around that area? Our income is only $53,000-would we be able to do ok there? (we are paycheck to paycheck here and realize we might be like that there too, but at least we'd be in good weather with probably lower taxes!) -how is the homeschooling, are there university model schools or co-ops? are there any good private schools that have a lot of financial aid? -what do you like/not like about the area? We'd be coming from the northeast. Thank you SO much-I have never moved out of state before and have NO idea where to even start with seeing if this is a good location fit for us!
  14. The only ones I can think of are: Roar (Katy Perry) and (What doesn't kill you make you) Stronger (Kelly Clarkson) Doesn't have to be recent pop songs-can go all the way back to late 80s. Thanks!
  15. That doesn't seem to be working-if I press the 4 button, a capital G prints out, and then when I press the 4 button again, a lower case G prints out, and if I press it again, a capital H prints out, but then the screen looks like this: GgH. Help!
  16. Help! Can't figure out how to text because I don't know how to make the other letters show up in the message besides the first one listed on each number. For example, if I want to type a letter "K" and I press the 5 key, only the "J" comes up. I know it must be something very simple I am missing! If it helps, I have a Samsung Tracphone T105G. I can't find it in the online manual how to do this, so I'm assuming it's just some really basic general thing everyone already knows about texting-lol I figured out how to set up a text and send it, it's just basically the typing of the message I can't figure out! Thanks!
