  1. I am heading to the homeschool convention in Cincinatti and need help on what speakers are worth the time to go see. This past year was my first year homeschooling and this will be my first convention. It would be nice to get some discussion on speakers that you have seen in the past. Thanks!
  2. Not really sure if this will work for us. It will be my husband and my 6 year old and 8 year old with me. We are not staying downtown, so he can't just take the kids back to the hotel while I meet up. We also have tickets to the show that night.... Daisy
  3. My six year old had ring worm and our pediatrician told us to use the same cream that you buy over the counter for athlete's foot. She said that it would take a couple weeks of application. Just a fungus to get rid of.
  4. My family and I will be attending. This is our first year of homeschooling and my first convention!
  5. We are on the east side of Columbus, Ohio!! Just starting to homeschool this year, so would love to get to know some people in the area.
  6. I have not started yet and this will be my first year, but I do think that we will be a lot like you guys are describing. Do you set weekly goals? I thought that by doing that I could keep things on track somewhat. Part of why I decided to do homeschool is the flexibility.
  7. I just pulled my daughter out of public school as a second grader to homeschool her. I would love some input on the curriculum that I have put together. I have pulled from many types and we will see what works for us this year. A Reason for Spelling Level B A Reason for Handwriting Level B (Handwriting without Tears was on my short list) Explode the Code (we are starting at book 1 because I totally did not know where to put her in this. She will probably breeze through many of these and think that it is fun) Bob Jones English 2 Bob Jones Reading 2 Five in a Row Volume 1 Bob Jones Heritage Studies 2 Math U See Alpha (most likely will start Beta this year?) Real Science for Kids: Pre-Level 1 Chemistry (I plan to try to do Biology and Physics after) Some kind of Health book Draw Write Now! This seems like a lot, but am I missing something? Do you see any gaps of some topic that we should pull in at some point during the year? I want it to be fun and different and for her to learn so much more, but I also want her in a good spot in case she wants to go back to public school. She is actually a pretty good reader for her grade and spell well. I think that she is average in math, but not really sure. Is there anything else to incorporate that she would have fun and learn with? She is very creative, likes to draw, write stories, and act out things. Thanks so much!
