I just pulled my daughter out of public school as a second grader to homeschool her. I would love some input on the curriculum that I have put together. I have pulled from many types and we will see what works for us this year.
A Reason for Spelling Level B
A Reason for Handwriting Level B (Handwriting without Tears was on my short list)
Explode the Code (we are starting at book 1 because I totally did not know where to put her in this. She will probably breeze through many of these and think that it is fun)
Bob Jones English 2
Bob Jones Reading 2
Five in a Row Volume 1
Bob Jones Heritage Studies 2
Math U See Alpha (most likely will start Beta this year?)
Real Science for Kids: Pre-Level 1 Chemistry (I plan to try to do Biology and Physics after)
Some kind of Health book
Draw Write Now!
This seems like a lot, but am I missing something? Do you see any gaps of some topic that we should pull in at some point during the year? I want it to be fun and different and for her to learn so much more, but I also want her in a good spot in case she wants to go back to public school. She is actually a pretty good reader for her grade and spell well. I think that she is average in math, but not really sure. Is there anything else to incorporate that she would have fun and learn with? She is very creative, likes to draw, write stories, and act out things.
Thanks so much!
