I will make food. And we shall eat well, with or without guests.
At least you won't have to deal with unplanned-for food arriving as house gifts!

Common App: They won't mess with the submitted documents, and the Optional Report can deal with this.

It is really a fine set up with plenty of opportunities to see what your documents look like before sending. It is more idiot-proof now than when I used it two years ago, but you know that saying about building a better idiot. I am sure you will do fine!
When you upload it, are you able to preview it and then submit it, or is there any kind of button that says, click here to confirm, or anything like that? I am just trying to prepare myself.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had not thought of trying to open a ticket. I am trying, but I think the party line is here:
https://recsupport.commonapp.org/ics/support/kbanswer.asp?deptID=33014&task=knowledge&questionID=167
The Common Application organization evaluated the issue of counselors and teachers who want to retrieve or edit previously submitted online forms because they addressed their recommendations to specific institutions without realizing it (despite the instructions), or wanting to change answers on the already submitted form. They also evaluated the issue of counselors submitting updated or incorrect documents. Unfortunately, in these cases, the Common Application organization must reiterate the policy that documents cannot be retrieved or edited once submitted. Schools are aware that mistakes happen and students are not penalized.
<Counselors: The Optional Report may be used at any point in the academic year to submit updated grades and/or transcripts, as well as to correct errors previously submitted on any recommendation form, but it should not be used as a substitute for the Mid Year or Final Report.
Keep in mind that this Optional Report form can only be submitted once during the school season.

You remember this woman because of kindness to your son, which was a form of comfort to you. By attending her service you are acknowledging that and also reciprocating. I am certain the family will be touched to see you there. I am touched just reading about it.

Poll wouldn't let me vote, since I have never posted in the forums (?)
My daughter received little welcome packages in the mail from several schools. Other schools sent email. If she was ever notified on the portal, I think she received an email telling her to check the portal. This was two years ago.

Thank you again for all of the great feedback on my son's essay and the kind, encouraging words.

When I was in college I lived in a house of fifteen females. Four were named Karen.
I don't meet many young Karens now, but I did see a teen Karen recently.

It wouldn't bother me. I would pop the dish into the refrigerator to be looked at when I had time, probably the next day.
If the bringer were bent out of shape that the dish doesn't appear on the table that meal, then I would be bothered.

Thank you for these great ideas.

Does anyone have a favorite purchased kit with tools and/or emergency supplies to keep in a car?
This is for a 18yo who lives away where there is wintery weather and bought a not-very-great car.

What a horrible shock. I am so sorry.

I was surprised I wasn't permitted to do this.
Is there a way to get permission to do this?
What sort of documents am I permitted to send?
Thank you.

It turns out I wasn't able to send the document through this forum.
If anyone that I pm'd today is still willing to read the essay and would send me an email address, I will send it that way.
I am trying to understand why my document wouldn't send.
Thanks, kind boardies

I thought I was sending a document to fellow boarders, but I finally noticed the notification that I am not permitted to upload that sort of document.
It is a docx, not too big.
Does anyone know what sort of document I can send or how to change that?

Thank you to everyone who contacted me about my son's essay. I pm'd you all this morning.
I didn't get back to everyone right away because the essay wasn't ready when I thought--but if anyone is still able, it would be great for him to get feedback from someone other than Mom.

My son asked me to help him find someone who doesn't know him to give feedback for his common app essay. Is anyone available? It isn't in final form. He would like to know what sort of impression of him it conveys and whether the content is substantial enough.
Thank you.

This just happened here.
A box bearing detailed pictures of the appliance inside arrived at the front door. I put it in my son's room since it was addressed to him. I forgot about it until he came home and I heard screams coming from his room.
It was a gift, as he says in indicated on the Amazon order, for the family.

I think it would be very nice to send a gift.
If someone I had not met implying that she knew how I felt about a matter between me and my son, I think I would find it patronizing. Acknowledging that missing our kids is hard is one thing, but noting that the kid's being with the new family rather then the kid's own family is his decision could seem like rubbing it in.

My student read The Little Pink House as a supplement to his government/civics course.
I am looking for something similar to go with economics--a story of an event that illustrates the subject practically. We have watched a documentary about Madoff.
Does anyone have a lead?

Our littles sorted laundry into piles and paired socks.
Emptying the dishwasher was another early chore, but I am not sure whether we started that by 3.
