MIL took the turkey out of the freezer on Thursday and left it in the garage. The turkey still feels cold, but definitely not frozen. 🕵 On the other hand, it is so hot in the house (upstairs) that we've opened the windows to cool it off. #bonusearworm

Travel Morning Haiku of Lament Who left the lid loose? Mayo all over the floor. Mom was not happy. I got a little snooze in and my grumpies are gone. We are now driving over the Cumberland Plateau. It’s so pretty here! There has been no traffic to speak of, even through the Big City during rush hour, and will make it to Knoxville in record time. Love to you all

Good morning. I am up because all the lights are on in the house and the kids are bouncing off the walls. I dreamed that there were five little Eskimo kids crawling into our bed. They had been hiding. I was patting their soft fur coats and helping them up, but alas, it was only dh. Then I dreamed that the power went out so Grandma set all the kids up in the living room watching movies on iDevices at top volume and I couldn't figure out how to turn off the movies. Then ds13 was praticing cello a block away at 4am, all alone, in the dark, in the rain. That was pretty much all the sleep I got. :glare: Leaving in an hour. :hurray: Yawn. Cooooooffffffffffffeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

I gave up on making the ornaments before Christmas. It takes 1/2 hour just to get the design traced onto the wood. I showed the kids the design and said they would likely be done at some point in the near or distant future.

When I first read this I wondered where you got glow-in-the-dark raisins and why you would put them on ornamants. :D

We'll survive it. Once we start driving I will be OK. The heater went out in the bunk room, but the adjoining room has a wood stove, so we can roast and freeze in turn, depending on which room we escape to. It will be like having a Swedish sauna followed by a jump in a frozen lake!

I don't get stressed about Christmas. I get stressed about 4 days of driving with a van whose transmission is going out and 3 days with 12 people in a 700 sq.ft. cabin on a remote mountain.

I swear on my grandmother's apron (may she rest in peace) that I will never, ever make this trip again. Also, I will quit hoping that dh will manage to get packed before 1am the morning we leave. It's never going to happen, even if he takes off a day and a half off work before we leave. I love driving all day I love driving all day I love driving all day. We now return to your regularly scheduled program.
