  1. Thank you for the samples TeachingMyTwo! 3andMe, Cybershala is a great option if you have a consistent schedule in your home. I work so my daughter needed me to be present when she did the classes, as we often had technology issues and she needed my assistance. After trying to work my schedule around her classes we realized that it was too exhausting and needed a change. I will say that while my daughter had a tutor through Cybershala her math skills became stronger. It was also a nice break for me to have someone else reinforcing the concepts that I was teaching. The owner of Cybershala is very responsive and kind, I would recommend it as a supplement.
  2. Absolutely! Books on tape are just as beneficial as reading aloud. We do it all in our home with a 9 year old and 4 year old. We started books on tape when my oldest was three because we were spending soooo much time in the car. She was so captivated by the story and the narrator ( the narrator makes a huge difference!) that it was all she asked for when we would get in the car. Now at 9 she is an avid reader and still listens daily to books on tape. She will re hear the book on tape if it is a favorite of hers. Her passion for books, reading silently, books on tape and my read alouds has really been a wonderful influence to my younger child. My now 3 y/o asks for her own books on tape and loves Frog and Toad, Dr Seuss, Henry and Mudge, Wind in the Willows. We love books on tape!!
  3. Hi All, Has anyone heard or used this program? It's an online tutoring program using singapore math as it's curriculum. It's meant as a supplement to your formal program. We were using Cybershala but unfortunately it didn;t quite work out for us so now we're looking for another supplemental program. I would love any feedback and/or thoughts. Thanks!
  4. Has anyone taken an electronics course from www.quickstudylabs.com ? How are these classes conducted? Is there a course room or is it all via email from the instructor? My daughter is interested in electronics, as she spends quite a bit of time taking things apart and putting them together. Are these course worth the $? The fee seems quite inexpensive, although the cost adds up with materials needed. What do you all think? Would it be best to purchase Snap Circuits on our own and do the projects solo? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
  5. We love Athena's Academy. My almost 10 year old is enrolled in Greek Mythology and she loves the class. There are many projects and activities assigned throughout the week that keep her learning. We're currently doing BA on our own but are thinking about BA C/D and SOTW 2 for the Spring. We're looking forward to the Brain Pop subscription with our semester long courses. Hope to see you in Athena's in January!
  6. I am homeschooling a 2/3 grader and will be starting Writing Tales soon. We will need a dictionary and am looking for recommendations for a thorough, yet kid friendly dictionary. Any suggestions? Thanks!
