  1. Can anyone compare the two online programs? Textbooks?jann uses Lial's textbook and it is not very user friendly.
  2. DD 11 has used Singapore all the way through 5B, now we are taking a break and reviewing basic concepts using the Key To Series, Zaccarro's series, IP/CWP and Process Skills book. For those who have used 6A what are the benefits? Is it a must before pre-algebra? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
  3. Jann in Texas, myhomeschoolmathclass.com liveonlinemath.com (algebra, algebra II, geometry)
  4. My 5 year old DD loves it. She asks to do her Dino class several times during the day. It's very interactive - an excellent course for kids!
  5. Myhomeschoolmathclass.com with Jann offers live classes, prealgebra, algebra, geometry.
  6. These are great ideas! pegs, do you have a favorite poet for children? Robert Louis Stevenson, Edward Lear has alphabet poems, hmm I'm going to think about this as it seems like it would be fun. I like the craft idea along with the poem. Sky is the limit as to the themes for the classes.... A group art class is also an idea, we use Home art Studio K level and my dd really enjoys it. There is never enough art in the home. Maybe combining art with poetry, hmm?? Thanks for your ideas!!!
  7. Thank you so much for posting this! My budding entomologist is excited!!

  11. Rose, Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, sequence and details about what you did for MS science. This is vey helpful as I plan science for my DD. Did you use any particular book for your section on biology, cells and micro organisms?
  12. Thank you scott777 and arcara for your recommendations, very helpful.
  13. We participated in their science fair and it was a lot of fun! We are also taking their Mandarin course and it is okay. I am looking for something that will incorporate both written and oral work.
  14. What about Zaccarro's Real World Algebra? My DD loves all of Zaccarro's books.

  16. We have been doing a Currclick mandarin class, it's okay, would like something that integrates writing and that is graded. Any recs or experiences? Thanks!
  17. Of course it is so much easier for the kids to look up words online, however the skill of learning to use a dictionary is invaluable. We've been using The American Heritage Student Dictionary since the early years with my DD and it is an excellent resource.
  18. The Wolves of Willoughby Chase by Joan Aiken. A great book about determined, intelligent girls - my girls are loving it!!
  19. We are doing a class from Minecraft Homeschool. There are many options in terms of interest and ability. Classes run 5 weeks and range in fee from 9.95 - 15.95. minecrafthomeschool.com
  20. Thank you for this post!! Khan Academy can be used in numerous ways. I am excited to continue expanding how I use it as a resource. My DDs have so many interests and want to learn about anything and everything that it is nice to have a very organized program at ones disposal.
  21. I agree with Connections we also took an online G3 class and were greatly disappointed. The discussion in class and the forums were too basic. I found the same to be true with Athena courses, ie the literature ones. I am weary of any type of online class now, you never know what to expect.
