  1. Mine is due on the 10th also and is slightly different than the regular monthly review. I'm not looking forward to it and am going to make sure next year's SLP reflects our actual learning.

  2. Joann and anyone else that has written their own SLPs - would you mind sharing some pointers on how you write your own SLPs? I would like to have my SLP reflect what I plan to teach for the year, but the thought of writing my own overwhelms me. For example, I plan to use HO Ancients next fall, which uses SOTW. Other than listing the table of contents, I don't know how I would write that up.

    I appreciate your help. :hurray:

  3. The tentative plan for next fall is TT4, HO Ancients, AAS 3 continued, Harmony Fine Arts grade 3, Elemental Science - Chemistry or Physics. I'm not totally happy with the history or science programs, but after writing my own history curriculum this year I know I don't want to do that again next year. The search continues... :banghead:

  4. I had Denise Kroll, but switched because she wasn't a good match for us. And losing stuff is pretty normal in my experience with her, like my daughter's MAP test results, 3 times in one year.

I spend about 10 minutes a week doing our check-in, either typing up what my 2 kids say or scanning work to email in. Monthly reviews take about 30 minutes, copying and pasting goals from their SLPs.

We've been with CVA for 3 years, and while the effort on my part has increased due to changes in weekly check-ins and reporting, it has continued to be worth the curriculum, classes and supplies we would have gone without.

  5. A friend of mine that recently unenrolled due to a cross-country move was sent a pre-paid UPS label to attach to her box of assets to return. Or maybe if you tell them you want to return your assets before you unenroll your funds can be used to pay the postage?

  6. I did a search and couldn't find any errata for FLL level 1 on these forums or elsewhere on the web.

My children just completed lesson 37, in which there were finding nouns in a paragraph from the previous lesson. My daughter listed "inside" as a noun, since it is a place, but the answers don't list "inside" as a noun.

    Input?

  7. Hi. I'm new to the forums, hopefully no one minds if I jump right in here. I'm on book #43 for the year. I haven't written reviews of them, but I keep a notebook by my bed to write the title in when I'm finished it. It helps me not reread too many books. Right now I'm finishing up a fun, light read: Shakespeare Undead by Lori Handeland. This is the 3rd based-on-the-life-of-Shakespeare book I've read this year, seems to be a theme for me.

  8. I'm a newbie doing All About Spelling with my 1st grader. We like it. I can customize it to her (she can write the words instead of "building" them with tiles, etc), and it seems to be building a really good foundation. We zoom through certain lessons, and slow down where needed. She'll likely be done with the first book by end of Oct, and then move on to the 2nd.

I would think it'd be a good one to remediate with.

Seconding this. Both my kids have done great with this program.

  9. We bought a Galileoscope last year. It's not bad. I've had really good views of the moon. It is extremely difficult to hold it still enough to see anything for more than a second though. Consider a tripod, it will help a lot.

  10. Are you in CVA-Colville? We are now required to have a minimum of one phone call per month with our AT, also.

There are a lot of differences between CVA-Valley and CVA-Colville. Not sure why.
