I bought two very large dog bowls and two very large dog chains. Had one attached to back porch and one to front porch with the bowls filled with water. I kept my porch lights on each night. Hopefully, if anyone were passing by they might think I have a very large dog inside. Wouldn't help much if someone were watching your house, however.

Christian Liberty Press which sells a 1971 CAT Test. It cost about $25.

The ceremony was outdoors, with couple & minister standing in a gazebo. My son-in-law kept his cap on, but the wind kept blowing it off. He did his best to keep it on, wind and all. My daughter is new to marriage and the military and our minister had her worried. She's figured out, pretty quickly, that her husband knows what he's tallking about.

My daughter is getting married in 11 days. My husband's father fell and received a deadly head injury. The doctor says he will be dead within 24 hours. We're all heartbroken, especially my daughter. I told her that GP (grandpa) wouldn't want her to cancel the wedding. But we've gone from being so excited to very drepressed. No one in the family wants us to cancel and we actually can't (venue issues). But I feel so sad that this has happened to Gp. Also, that my daughter's wedding will not be the joyest occasion she deserves. Grandfather is 84, so you begin to mentally plan that he'll be gone someday, but not like this.

May have to put my son in public high school
Stillwood replied to Stillwood's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
...neither is my son. Daughter is up to Well Trained Mind standards. Which is why I've been here for so long. I can't bring myself to leave this list. We need a special thread for average (but amazing, of course) students. -
He will be a 9th grader this fall. The high school is one of the best in our state. But, I'm not sure my son can handle it. Will he be tested for placement? What if he isn't up to speed for a standard 9th grader? He's in Pre-Algebra right now and is above average in math. He basically hates all of his subjects and is poor at writing. I plan on working on that with him. He'll be entering high school as a very average student. He's not use to tests and quizzes, but I'm doing that with him this spring. Should I have a tutor evaluate him or just let the school work it out?

Anyone know how to get the sound to work? I can't send it to Saxon because I bought it used on this board.

Is 27 on the ACTs a good score?
Stillwood replied to Stillwood's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
she is getting married this Nov. She'll be 18 1/2 and her fiancé enlisted in the Air Force for 6 years. She'll apply to whatever college/university is nearby their baseto finish BA. We're in Florida and her Fl. Prepaid will pay for a college out of FL. Luckily, military spouses get to pay in-state tuition. So hopefully they won't be saddled with college bills. I'm hoping some kind of merit aid will help them. She has 30 credits and will have 37 when she finishes this semester. -
Is 27 on the ACTs a good score?

and changed our minds. She will actually graduate in August, which is how our school has operated. I thought she could take another ACT in June. She would continue with her State College until she gets into a university. -
Is 27 on the ACTs a good score?

I feel badly for not encouraging her to finish her math earlier. She's been dual enrolled in this State College for three years. Started her Intermediate Algebra class a couple of months ago and is doing great. I guess she applies to universities, then they possibly offer a scholarship??? I'm not sure how it works. She's a member of Phi Theta Kappa, so I'm hoping she'll get on a mailing list to alert Universities, as she hasn't received in mail from them. Sorry for asking so many questions. -
My test anxiety daughter received a 27 on the ACTs. She hasn't finished Algebra 2, so I'm trying to encourage her to re-take the ACT. She did great in reading and English, but needs work on math and science. I think she won't be as anxious the second time around and may be able to bring her math score up. She's not interested in improving the score, but I'm waiting to see how she feels after she finishes her Algebra.

Securing wedding date new recruit in Airforce
Stillwood replied to Stillwood's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Is this safe? He'll have plenty of time to discuss the date where he'll be stationed. Then venue will allow a change, but it may have to be on a Thursday or Friday. -
My favorite show is Serendipity, as of late. A sweet romantic movie. Well, last night my dh insisted we watch it together. What? How nice. This morning i opened a box from 'Bloomingdales'. We never shop at Bloomingdales, and isn't it located in NY? We're in FL. In the box contained one, lone casimere glove. I began to tear up when he pulled the other from his shirt pocket. I opened the second box which contained an Ipod player with the song "When You Know"from Serendipity . He deserves brownie points for this Christmas.

My dd and her bf (boyfriend) want to set a wedding date before he leaves for boot camp. The venue they want requires a serious deposit. BF is leaving for boot camp in 19 days, then technical school then stationed... somewhere... His recruiter told him to go ahead an select a date and ask for leave when stationed. I'm not feeling all that secure about it. I want them to wait until after technical school then ask for permission and leave. Is the recruiter correct? Because, I'm not feeling comfortable with this plan. My checkbook is sweating bullets.
