  1. Another question... I was thinking of doing just the Foundations, but the director said my son would be able to do Essentials, too, because they start out with the basics in the English. The only thing is, I just bought FLL and WWE and I really want to use them, but I think both English programs would be too much? I can't decide....CC at home, CC in a community, CC in a community doing Foundations only, CC in a community doing Foundations and Essentials??!!!! (or no CC! :confused1: )

  2. CC doesn't (or didn't) memorize the dates on the VP cards- if you're going to do it, might as well do the dates as well- I just put them on the front of the cards with permanent marker.

I saw the cards last night and they have dates on the front of them. If the songs don't have dates, wouldn't be hard to add them to the memory work?

  3. Can't talk you out of it!

It is very easy to use & our boys have loved it. They beg to do art! The results are amazing, which helps them love it all the more when they see how well their end product turns out. They really enjoy the DVDs, especially comparing their work to the examples.

    HTH some :)

  4. I'm looking at other posts on this topic and see BJU rates well. Our older dc did some AP Science and they did seem somewhat dry. So I am wondering, if you had 3 children 1 to 3 yrs. apart, would you consider BJU? How would you do it as far as combining? Would it be hard to do 2 or 3 levels at a time? I am interested in using DVDs with it in upper levels, too.

  5. Book 3 (grade 6), specifically.... I was so excited to see the OLD Wordly Wise workbooks on RR :p I have such :001_wub: memories of them from school. I don't really like the look of the 3000 program. Of course, I could find the test packets for most any OTHER level in the old program, but NOT 3. *sigh* Google has failed me, all it turns up is 3000. Surely, somewhere out there, exists a test packet for this level? If you know how to find one, please lead me to it!

    I use the originals, also.

I guess I better order what I need before they go OOP!

Is this what you are looking for?

  6. I'm here for 3 more day and I forgot to bring R&S Homelands Around the World with me. I wanted to go through the rest of it while I was here and make plans for when I get back home!!!! :( So disappointed. Anyone have one I could borrow? :) I'll be in a hospital waiting room with nothing to do. :(

  7. I'm not big into experiments because I usually don't have what the experiments require. I would like something that is simple. I haven't done any formal Science up til now. Just wanting to begin some research on what to do next year. We are on a budget. Thanks :)

We're using Apologia Flying Creatures with Jr. Notebook this year with 3rd grade and 2nd grade dss. They are really loving it! Our notebooks are a real keepsake!

  8. My manual doesn't have what I call stick figures. It looks like the student pages. It is pretty basic but not stick figures. I've been pondering whether to stick with the manual or going to the student pages. Not sure what to do since I just have one I'd be using it with right now. And their new 1st/2nd pages are completely different and have their own teachers manuals and everything. Not sure how I feel about that either.

Skip the Primary Pages altogether. Stay in the Beginner Pages until child is ready for Intermediate Pages.

They REALLY should have kept things they way they were!

  9.

I get bogged down with too many activities. All I can handle sometimes is reading and drawing.

Except for one book, I have the OLD stick figure pages, not the new giant headed pages. They are better to use as drawing inspiration. I don't think they are for sale anywhere anymore though. :-( My love of BSGFAA stops where all the new and improved resources have replaced the simpler older resources.

I was thinking the same things.

I am considering going back to just using the big blue manual I have.

We use to use the added references from the Teacher's Manual for Friday night sword drills and devotions.
