You can go back to year 1 the next year if you don't want to tackle modern history with such young folks.
I was thinking this same thing. What's the difference if my 1st ds or my 3rd ds start in Y1? One will and one won't. KWIM?
Thanks

...you had 4, 6, & 8 yo dss and your best friend was doing TOG with 4 dc ages 8(ds), 10(ds), 11(dd), and 16(dd)? Friend is starting back up in Y2U3. Would you start with her to do it together, or would you do it on your own and start in Y1U1?

Just wondered. Considering MFW Adv., but my boys don't want to give up BSGFAA.
-
I think the originals can be found at mainlesson.com.
Do you know what the differences might be?

Are all Guerber's History books edited by Christine Miller the only ones available or did I read somewhere you can still get the originals?
If so, which do you prefer and why?

I found instructions on line for a book made of cheapo zip lock baggies. It would be perfect for a nature journal. I'll look for those instructions. Karen
I'd love to see the instructions if you can find them! Can't believe I didn't think of doing an online search..."Search" is my middle name :001_smile:.

:bigear: I'd be interested to hear what others use.
I have done it different ways. Using a blank sketchbook or any type of notebook to draw pictures works for us. But you could take pictures to put into it as well. I have also purchased binders and page protectors to put their drawings or "finds" in. Simply tape whatever it is onto a paper and slide it in.
I wondered if the books that suggested nature books told what to use? But this is what I was thinking, especially the page protectors.

We have been going on nature walks and collecting little 'finds' along the way. Do you put these in the journal (book) somehow, or do you take pictures, or do you draw pictures? I'm sure drawings wouldn't help much to go back and identify what we found with 3, 6, and 7 yo dss. :) If you put the things you find 'in' the book, how do you do it? What kind of book do you use for a journal?

Thanks for your review, Katrina! It was really helpful. You said that Adventures and Beyond both have a different "feel" to them...could you elaborate on that? Sorry to put you on the spot...I know it might be kind of hard to put in into words, but I wanted to know more of your thoughts on the differences between the two. I wish I could buy both guides and look through them, but I don't know if that's possible.
Yes! PLEASE, Katrina. Could you elaborate on the different "feel" of the 2. Maybe it'll help me also to see which one would fit us better.
Thanks!

My favorite is Old Style Zaner-Bloser. Taught it to all of ours. For our last 3 we are learnng cursive first (not the program Cursive First).

Just wondering if PR covers Grammar thoroughly for 1-4th grades or would it be over kill to add R&S?
-
I REALLY wanted to use PR, but I was afraid I would be over doing it by adding R&S English (which I LOVED with older dc). Does PR cover grammar as well as R&S?

Is it generally worth the while?
Is it ever!!!
I can't wait for it each year!
We travel 1 1/2 hrs. for it.
Since I've started going, we have 5 more that go together now.
We ALWAYS find many treasures and great prices!
You would not be disappointed!
I've been marking my books and ready to go! :)

Anyone going to Lake County Christian Home Educators Book Sale Tomorrow (Tues., May 17), near Cleaveland?
-
I strongly suggest the Maps and Timelines!
The program can be done without them, but you will not get the depth of the lessons. They really help you put things in place. :)
We've used them and will again when our younger dc are ready for them.

I hate RS4K. I am so glad I didn't waste my money on it. It is pretty expensive for what you get.
How much time do you have for Science?
Do you want hands on?
I love (boys do, too) hands-on!
I'm able to spend 3 days/week, and about 1 hr. each for those days.
I'm leaning towards RSO for K-3rd and then AIG for 4th-8th.

It would be for boys, ages (soon to be) 4, 6, & 8.
I want to combine if I can and use a rotation type plan (to go back around and repeat so the younger one gets what the older one did).
-
RS4K and RSO are not YE. RS4K is neutral and I think RSO is as well. You might want to look at Apologia.
I thought Apologia was for older. I heard you can use it for younger, but is it hard to make it work?
-
Young earth, old earth, or neutral?
That will help narrow down your choices.
Young Earth :)

I need to choose a science program for K-gr.3. I am looking at:
RSO, RS4K, or any other recommendations?
What did you use and what did you like/not like about it?
Thanks,
Pam
