  1. We're going on our first cruise to Alaska this year, so I really don't have any tips or experience to share. I'm researching and reading. Here are some links that may be of help. http://www.hillmanwonders.com/alaska_cruise/packing_tips_alaska_cruise.htm - this guy really knows his stuff. http://www.tammileetips.com/2013/06/9-tips-for-an-alaska-cruise/

  3. Rebounding (again), but considering that I felt too lazy to do anything initially and that I ended up enjoying it, I'm content. :)
  4. I just finished Gone Girl as part of the Reading Bingo Challenge (a book that became a movie) and give it 3 Stars. There were excellent twists and turns throughout most of the book. Not knowing whose side to be on was exciting and a definite change to my usual reading. I could barely stop thinking and talking about this book - edge-of-the-seat type reading. However, as someone who likes a sense of closure in books and movies, I thought that the ending was too abrupt and rather uneventful. If the ending had been better, I would have likely given it 4 or even 5 Stars. MY RATING SYSTEM 5 Stars Fantastic, couldn't put it down 4 Stars Really Good 3 Stars Enjoyable 2 Stars Just Okay – nothing to write home about 1 Star Rubbish – waste of my money and time. Few books make it to this level, since I usually give up on them if they’re that bad.
  5. New thread. Please post your workouts here. Everyone welcome. :)

  8. Thank you all again. :) Good to know. Thank you. Yes, that's what I'm hoping for. :) Good. Ours will be about the same size as your RC cruise. The Disney Alaska cruise sounds fun also! Very helpful. Thank you so much. I'm going to look into the generic version also. We have inside rooms specifically because that's what I read would help. :) Thanks. I'm like you. I can't read in a car. I can read on most flights - except when they're bumpy. I'm fine with swings and carousels - that sort of stuff. Yes, I'll make sure to bring enough Bonine/the generic version mentioned above (not sure which), etc. for the entire trip.
  9. 10-Minute Solution: Quick Tummy Trimmers You're most welcome. I haven't had time to spend much on it. Hope to do so soon.

  11. Thank you all so much for your very helpful tips. I hope I can get that here where we live. We'll only be in Seattle for one day and being able to get something Rx may be very difficult. I'm similar to you. I can handle sitting as a passenger, but I do need to sit in the front for long drives. I tried those many years ago and they didn't work for me at all. Your tips are very helpful. Thank you. Yes, our ship will be very big - one of the biggest ones - and we chose a cabin that apparently and hopefully has less motion. That's very reassuring and that's what others have been telling me. Yes, I will try out before. I've avoided cruises for all my life for this very specific reason, plus the fact that we're not really cruise types. At all! But then we figured we wanted to do something different and I always knew that if I do only one cruise in my life, Alaska's the one I would choose. I'm thinking that maybe we need to get a cabin with a view :confused1: . Does that help, I wonder? In an effort to cut cost, our cabin does not have a window, but it's in a good location (as far as less motion). I wonder if we should pay more and go with that. Last I checked, the cost was significantly greater, but it may be necessary. Anyone have thoughts on this? If I just take the Rx stuff and all that, do you think that will suffice? Thanks again everyone. :grouphug:
  12. I was just replying to my post in the book thread and I noticed that my profile picture/avatar/whatever you want to cal lit has changed back to what it used to be. This is not important. I just thought it was rather odd. Has anyone else experienced this?
  13. We'll be going on a cruise to Alaska - first time for all. I'm rather concerned about possible motion sickness. I had a horrible reaction to Dramamine the last time I took it - minor panic attack. Besides, I don't want to be groggy and semi-conscious throughout. Any tips? Ginger does not work for me. Thank you.
  14. Yes, I read the sequel and remember liking it very much. I read it right after it came out, so it's been a few years. As with most sequels (most, not all), I prefer to wait a bit before reading them back-to-back. With some books, I just need some breathing space and a change, if you know what I mean. :) No wonder about Alan Bradley and him not having even visited Britain. I think that the Outlander author just visited briefly or was only there for a short time. It's not the same as living there over a long period of time. I can almost always tell when it doesn't seem very genuine, especially since I grew up there. One of my pet peeves ;). Rosie, I'm terrible at audio books. I might be better if I drove for extended periods of time, but most drives here are no longer than 20 minutes . We have most of the Austen stuff on DVD. Dh says I should just simplify matters and watch them. Now to find the time.
