  1. I just ordered Galore Park Jr. English for my dd who will be in 3rd grade next year. I'm surprised a bit by how few exercises there are. Is this intended for a whole school year??? Am I missing something? :001_huh:
  2. We switched from Singapore to CLE and we LOVE it. This year I tried switching her from CLE to TT (more for me than her) and she hated it. We're back to CLE and loving it!!
  3. We LOVE ETC!! I wish I had found it before this year. We also use The Reading Lesson which I highly recommend.
  4. So far we've hopped a bit but the two that I've used for 3+ years are: The Reading Lesson A Reason for Handwriting
  5. We use ETC for phonetic awareness already but just yesterday she was spelling h-a-v-e and left off the e b/c the "a" didn't say it's name...sometimes the rules trip her up. Someone was willing to sell me A&P workbook and TM for $25 shipped so I'm going to give it a try!!
  6. We have a Yukon XL! We love it!! Although, with #6 due in August we're going to be very cramped...but we also have 4 kids in carseats and 2 in boosters...someday we'll have room! BUT, we love it. I love my heated seats, the leather interior, the cargo space, and it drives so nicely, very very easy to drive!
  7. Ok. Good to know. I get nervous about making the jump for AAS b/c it's so pricey...I know that seems so silly....
  8. Her spelling in isolation is not good. I gave her the placement test on A&P and she didn't pass the Book A level 20. She missed words like f-i-l-l spelling it f-a-l-l or m-u-g spelling it m-a-g.
  9. What programs have you tried? Do you like AAS the best for your dd?
  10. My dd is in 2nd grade. She can read on a 4th/5th grade level but her spelling ability is around a K level. I've used R&S spelling and HOD's spelling list's (that was last year). I've considered buying AAS but I have mixed feelings about it. She really has trouble spelling which makes her reluctant to want to write anything and she gets very anxious when it's time to spell/write. I've just recently been introduced to Apples and Pears...thoughts? Are there any other spelling programs that you would recommend? I'm open for any and ALL suggestions!!! Also, I'm afraid if the program is too "baby-ish" she'll freak out... thanks!
  11. What level of Galore Park are you using? What grade is your dd in? I'm just trying to figure what would work best for my 3rd grader...
  12. I feel the same. I'm not a huge fan of I Can Read books for that same reason.
  13. I'm wondering if anyone has used both? We currently using EFTTC Vol. 1 for my dd who is in 2nd grade. We really like it. I haven't seen much about EFTTC Vol. 2. I've looked into Galore Park Jr. English and I'm considering switching to GP for my dd for 3rd grade. Thoughts? Experience with either? Thanks!
  14. My dd will be in 3rd grade next fall. This year we've used R&S's reading program and I'm fairly pleased with it. A bit dry at times but overall I feel like it's a good program. I'm considering using DITHOR next year instead. Has anyone used both and can compare? Or have you used 1 or the other and have really loved or have not loved either program and for what reasons?
  15. We've traveled to Williamsburg a few years ago and we always book through a seller on ebay. I'm wondering if anyone knows any other ways to book a week for a reasonable price at one of the nearby resorts. We are hoping to spend under $500 for the week. Any other rental sites, etc. would be greatly appreciated! thanks!
