  1. Im starting home schooling because I live in a district where the school is not great at all , she would be going into middle school, I feel I can offer her more then what shes getting there & then some ...;)

I would be willing to send her back to school when Im done with college and I can get a decent enough FT job /career in an area where there is a really "great" PS or Private School of some sort that she could attend.

    :)

  2. Wow, this is a funny thread.. LOL I cant imagine shaving my labs! I wonder how silly they would look ?? ALthough I wouldnt mind a little less hair!!! It wasnt as bad with one yellow lab, but with the yellow and black.. LOL It looks like salt an pepper hair balls everywhere! They really shed a lot! it really depends on the kind of dog you get and how ffussy you are! ;)

I cant imagine having a dog with carpet tho.. UGGhh.. That would be gross! hardwood floors much easier to clean and vacume! :D

  3. I think its really risky and not worth it. From the people that I know that have had it done, one had it and it did nothing, she actually gained more weight. another just recently had it, she lost a lot of weight but she cant eat anything! most foods make her sick now.

I remember speaking to a man who does research in switzerland and they can not believe that in America they do this surgery. really bad.

Im sure there are some people whom it worked for but really would you want to take the chance?

Definately do A LOT OF RESEARCH BEFORE!!

  4. I plan on Home schooling in September . My daughter will be going in 5th grade. Im a single parent and I go to college online and have my own business. my store is open 10-5 during the week and sat 10-3 Im closed on Wed and Sun. I also have shorter hours in the late fall early winter and close for a few months in the winter. I plan on homeschooling in the mornings before work the major subjects. Then she will have independant work she can either come to the store with me and do work there or she go to my mothers and do it there. I also plan on doing some schooling after work like maybe art or music stuff.

I also do online work to make extra money.

being i have my own business our life is a bit more flexible at this point especially being the busy season for my business is mainly a spring through late fall. So i plan on just fitting HS'ing in with the rest of our schedule.

If you work 20 hrs aweek and you hav a husband I dont see why you couldnt make it work for you. Ive discovered through these boards that it can be so flexible, especially if your not a "schedule freak" ;)

  5. I buy Gap shirts from the tall dept online because the tshirts fit so nice.. I hate when they are too short and dont cover the top of my pants, I usually get them on clearance.

I dont wear their jeans but they do have them in tall.

I wear seven for all mankind and joes jeans because I have really long legs and tehy are the only ones that seem to fit me right. However they are really expensive.. ebay is good to find them at a good $

  6. I have a front loader. I love it. It's a Fridgidaire, the kind that can be stacked with the dryer--full size, but not girnormous. :-) It's quiet and gets the clothes clean. It doesn't beat up the clothes, either, the way a top-loader's agitator does. I've never had in problems with it in the 6 years I've had it.

Thanks good to know~ I was looking at those.. I need the stackable kind in my new house because thats all I have space for. ;)

  7. No I went to a 4 yr school years ago (14) and never finished. I had about a year and 1/2 in soo 3 semesters of credits.

I will be getting my associates this fall on top of those credits.

I returned to community college because it was much cheaper and the classes were online.. my first reason was to get my Teachers assistant certificate just to have it.. and I did that so I stayed there to finish my associates.

  8. If you get a degree will you be able to use it to support your dd and continue homeschooling?

You have 9 more years with your dd. Less if she graduates and starts college classes early. Would your time be better spent building up your business so that you can continue to homeschool for the next few years? Then you can go back to school once she has graduated and moving/school and all the rest isn't such a big deal.

If you don't plan to homeschool long term, would it be better to put off classes until she is back in school?

The idea was to hopefully get a degree and move someplace where she could go to a better school. The home schooling decision was many reasons but Im just going into it thinking that we will see how it goes but she will not return to the districct we are in now. I refuse to let that happen.

Id like for her to get a HS Diploma.. Not exactly sure how that works iwth homeschooling.

But in the meantime I will be starting her HSing n the fall and finish my degree online in the fall. She definately comes first. so if I have to wait a little bit to go back then I will.

I may take the option of getting an Online bachelors in Psychology. I might have enough art classes already that after the bachelors in psych... I could then go on to seek a art therapy degree. If thats the case it would be easier. Just means skipping the Art Ed degree at least for now..

At this point I really do enjoy the pyschology so maybe I should go that route it would be more $$ then teaching.

    Just weighing my options.;)

  9. Geography: I have no idea! Yesterday dd informed me that our geography program was mind-numbingly dull and begged me to pick something different. We're using an Evan-Moor workbook right now.

Are you using Daily Geography workbook ??

Our history curriculum has geograpy included but I was thinking of getting the workbook to beef it up.. but if its dull.. lol then maybe not. ;)

Ive also just been printing geograpy worksheets to add

  10. I'm a full-time senior. It's hard, and I'm feeling burnt out and exhausted right now. But it is possible. We homeschool around my class schedule. My daughter is able to do a lot independently, my son very little.

Do you have family nearby? That's made all the difference in the world for me. My grandmother lives next door, so I can leave the kids sleeping while I go to school in the morning. They get up and do their chores and any independent work, then we have lessons when I get home. In the evenings, I read, research, write. When I have afternoon classes, w reverse it. They go to my aunt one night a month, so that's a good time to catch up. And when it's crunch time, the house is ignored, the kids get their lessons, and then they fend for themselves. A few nights of PB&Js or grilled cheese won't kill them.

Moving away for grad school is going to be a challenge, though. Good luck!

If I stay where I am, then yes I have family and could probably just make my classes night or certain days. But Id be driving probably an hour at least. I have to research the schools closest to me and see if I can make it work somehow..

  11. Ughh... Im faced with some major decisions. I will be finishing my last semester at a community college online this fall semester. I have earned my Teachers assistant certificate and also associates in Humanties.

I went to state college many years ago and so between that and this college I will have many credits in ARt and Psych .

I would love to teach art in a private school or special needs school and maybe eventually work in the ART therapy field.

Sooo now Im faced with choosing a 4 yr college.( However I would finish in hopefully less then 2 yrs because of the credits I have)

However I chose to start home schooling in the fall. I still have the fall semester with online classes. so thats fine.. its after I graduate from there that I need to make the decision of whats next..

I also have my business. (which is mostly spring summer fall.I close few months in winter)

Now im faced with going back to an actual college, which would mean moving at least temporary, how would I home school, ? I could close my business for the semester and open in the spring when I finished.

I just do not know what Im going to do??.. I really want to finish my degree, but I dont know how im going to do this?? errggg...

not sure if there was even a question here... as much as a need to vent my thoughts.. :001_unsure:

  12. Post-it Notes!!!! Great for taking notes on pages you want to teach.

    File folders

I also buy (when on sale) the Post-It Page Markers. I think that's what they're called. (They're the tags that, as a secretary, you would put on a page where you want someone to sign.) They pop up out of a small portable plastic dispenser and I use them for everything! The page I'm going to teach tomorrow, dd's piano book, the activity page, etc. They are surprisingly strong and can be used over and over. Personally, I can't live without them anymore.

If you have extra money lying around :001_smile: -

I went to the tools department of my local Home Improvement store and bought a narrow storage box with lots of little clear drawers that you would put screws and nails in. It will hang on a wall or take up very little room on a table and it keeps all of the little supplies everyone's been mentioning in one place like erasers, post-its, push pins, safety pins, paper clips, binder clips, travel bottles of hand sanitizer, etc. I labeled the front of the drawers with my Labelmaker...

Oh! a labelmaker is awesome if you don't have one and have even more extra money lying around.

I might not be the best person to be answering this post...:001_unsure: I'll stop now.

 I have a feeling Im going to be a "Supply Junky"! hehe.. Im already addicted to post it notes , pens, & binders!:D bought lots for my college classes... now I get to buy more for HS'ng! :auto:

thank you , thank you ;)

  13. We love venison Better then regular beef ;)... Usually if it wasnt processed correctly it would taste funny.

I could venison steaks sliced up in small thin pieces (Like you would do for a stir fry) .. with onions, pepper, soy sauce , worcestor sauce (Sp?.)

Its very Yummy! I love how theres really little to zero fat, unlike beef :tongue_smilie:

You could probably put some teriayki (Sp?) Sauce in the ground beef and make burgers. Or make tacos .

Ive never heard of the milk thing :bigear:...

  14. Right now, there is a thunderstorm raging. Lightning flashing, thunder so loud it's shaking the house. Lights flickering. I LOVE it. Storms energize me and give me a feeling of euphoria. I have no idea why! LOL I just love a good summer thunderstorm!

:iagree::D:D:D:D I LOVE THEM TOo!! In fact its like 90 and humid here and Keeping fingers crossed for a storm! Im overdue~! ;)
