Maybe try advertising in your local newspaper. Or make up some flyers and hang them around. :001_smile:

:DVery nice! I did something similar.. I used donnayoung also and printed mine calander , planners, etc . I organized mine into a binder. Im using the quarterly planner sheets. I only have one child so I think it will work good.
It always looks so nice all put together in a binder. ;) and makes me feel organized! hehee:)

Thank you all! I appreciate the lists. :D

Just curious, which required books your child read at the 5th grade level??
Which ones did they really like?
I have a list of books, but would love to know what others required at this level.
Thanks :D

Last year with my 5th and 7th grader we did History M/W and Science T/TH and alternated Fridays one week History the next week Science. It worked really well and gave us flexibility if we had a project or experiment or something that required flexibility in our schedule.
HTH
Okay.. yes thats basically what Im thinking.. with the alternating it would leave 2 days one week and 3 the next for each subject. leaving the extra day for projects etc like you mentioned.
Great thanks! :D

So I was thinking at first of doing History 3 days a week ( Mon, Wed, Fri. ) and science 2 days a week (Tues, & Thurs.).
Then I started to think.. what if we just alternated every other day science and history??
this is 5th grade level. Just wondering what others do for these subjects??
Thanks :D

After being on FB for a few years.. my thinking is.. If I knew then what I know now.. I would have NEVER joined! ;)
(If you just joined it may take a little while to show up in the results, they have tons of issues.)

My "only" just finished 4th grade in PS. She will start 5th grade HS'ing . Im super excited and so is she! ( I just sent the LOI this morning. :D)
This is going to be a wonderful journey! Giving her the chance to explore beyond those brick walls ! ;)
Im not sure if I could do more then one child though.. ?? Maybe if I wasnt a single parent.
But overall I think its going to be a wonderful opportunity to learn so much for both of us together! :D

Okay.. so we were at my aunts house and the adults were playing cards and my daughter was in the other room watching tv. I was trying to help her find a movie,, when suddenly the adult channels came up on the tv guide!!
I was flipping out with the "Titles" I saw!!!! Of course I didnt say anythng and tried to quickly turn the channel! :glare:
I could not believe some of the obscene titles there were listed.
How the heck can you block them ? Or can you at all! I was really mad that my daughter could read these just innocently flipping through the channels.
they were really bad!
We just recently got the new cable box for our tv, and even though we definately dont have those channels, they still appear on the guide. ( Our old cable didnt have the updated guide)
anyone have this or know if you can take them off the guide?? Im rather disgusted.

I need to start running again, I hate it but I always felt so much better when I did run.
When I started I would alternate a fast walk and a run for so many minutes each. Like I would walk then run for a minute then walk for a few, then run.. Then eventually it gets easier and you end up running more then walking.
Although I have heard just a good fast walk is better then running, not as hard on your knees as running is. ;)

As long as your router is wireless you will be fine. It works through your network.
For instance I have a wireless printer.
We have a router as we have 2 desktops and a laptop that need internet.
The router is a wireless router so the laptop gets wireless internet but the router also has hardwire ethernet spots for the desktops.
We "hooked up" the printer by plugging it in :) Then ran the printer according to the directions for it to "find" the router.
We installed the printer driver on each computer (this comes on CD with the printer) and printed a test page.
Viola! Done. Easy as pie and I love it.
Please feel free to PM me if you need more info!
Okay thank you! My laptop has verizon wireless card built in so I guess I shouldnt have a problem. Still shopping for a printer, Definately need the copier couldnt live without it!
Sounds like it will be really handy not to have it connected with a cord. :D

Okay.. so Im on the search for a new printer and I keep seeing wireless everything..
:001_huh: forgive me if this is a stupid question, but how do they work?? Do they work with any computer or do have to ave some special router or something??
Are they good ? How difficult is the setup??
Thanks!! :D

Just wondering what others do? Thanks :D

Teaching German to a 10 yr old?
in K-8 Curriculum Board
Posted
I saw the other thread about why others chose German, But Im wondering about resources for teaching it to a 10 yr old.
I have decided on German because we have a lot of German history in our family and I think it would be interesting to learn along with her.
So any resources that you've used and liked please share. thanks ;)
