  1. Annie -- your dh has been through a lot.  I hope he is on the mend now!

Thought I was doing good (stayed home all week)  then Friday hit.  Car messed, the few items needed from grocery turned out to be much higher than expected. Not a great day.

Today was good though.  Went to some yard sales and found some really good deals on items I actually needed but wouldn't spend the money at stores for!  Plus ds and I got in some good quality time.  He enjoys yard sales too.

  2. I try to keep browned ground beef and cooked chicken in the freezer.

Also have been trying to cook up extra on several things and put in freezer for nights I don't want to cook.  Things like pulled pork (cooked in crock pot),  beef with AuJus sauce (crock pot),  extra grilled pork chops and hamburgers.  But I don't always have something in there.

Cereal -- we have been eating a lot of this lately  :blushing:   to hot to be cooking ;)

    Pb&J sandwiches

Pancakes & if I am in a good mood maybe some eggs & sausage or bacon

French fries -- baked so I don't have to stand and watch them oh and they are better for you that way :p

Taco salad - if we have lettuce

    Baked fajitas

slice beef or chicken or both into strips

put in a bowl with slices of bell peppers and onion

Toss with little bit of olive oil

    Toss with some fajita seasoning

    Spread on baking sheet

Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes.

    Chicken Rotel Spaghetti

Boil chicken breasts - or use some frozen cooked chicken from freezer

Take chicken out and drop spaghetti in and cook

    Cut chicken into small pieces

    Cut up some Velveeta

Drain spaghetti, put back in pot, put Velveeta in and stir & let melt

Add chicken and can of rotel.

    Stir and eat.

  3. Last weekend we went to my mom's for her birthday celebration (cake & ice cream).  Presents were bought the week before.

After coming home from Mom's last weekend I didn't leave the house again until yesterday.   Yesterday I bought a few groceries and some undergarments for everyone.  Today I went to the little grocery to buy a few items I know are much cheaper than WalMart.

  4. The spare on our van is under the rear too and a huge pain to get off.  And when I needed it and they finally got it off (dh & some other guys) it was shredded.    And apparently around here no one has spares that fit.  So if I want to carry my spare around I have to carry it in the back of van.

  5. Quill -- hope you can enjoy the beach

Dawn -- good luck with the job and thrift store finds

Annie -- cool idea on the index cards

Mommyoffive -- hope the stuff starts selling quickly

SKL -- :coolgleamA: on the zoo

Knox -- :hurray: for keeping your dad feeling good

Spent way to much this week.

    Birthday presents for mom

Dh a new shirt and new pair shorts

Out to eat for a mom's night out

    Few groceries

Thought I had sold some curriculum but that fell through.  I really wish I could get it sold.

But did get some free things too

    Corn

    Blueberries

    Blackberries

    Jam - 3 pints

    Cherry tomatoes

    Hot peppers

Our garden has been doing pretty good too (above stuff not from my garden).  I shared some of our garden produce and freebies with others too.

  6. It has been super HOT here.  We have been eating ALOT of cereal, salads, sandwiches, pancakes,  popcorn and ice cream   Yeah we have had root beer floats for supper a couple nights.

Also I had some various already cooked meats in the freezer (BBQ -pulled pork- grilled pork chops, grilled burgers, chicken, shredded beef and ground beef).  I have pulled those out and made meals with them.  That way I don't have to turn on the oven and minimal stovetop.  Microwave is getting ALOT of use :thumbup1:

  7. Velveeta is bought and consumed and liked in this house.  I have some friends that kinda freaks out when I mention Velveeta (and other various foods we eat).  But in the same boat I think some of the "good foods" they eat is gross.  So I say "if you like it... eat it!!"

  8. My dad always said "My house, my rules.  Don't matter if you are 42, if you are living in my house you follow my rules".

It didn't bother me.   Of course his rules weren't bad.  Call if not coming home.  Don't wake people when you come in.  Help with housework (hey you are eating, sleeping, showering, doing laundry etc. you can help).

  9. Not enough.  I'd like to blame this on my age and stage of life.....but it's been like this since I was a teenager. I'm guess I get between 5-6 hours of sleep a night.  Your sleep pattern sounds a lot like mine, actually, Dawn.

DH is full of suggestions of how I can actually sleep.  This is a man who can lie down, close his eyes and be out in less than a minute.  I have no idea how that works.  He says I need to learn out to turn my brain off.  Um.....HOW???  My brain never shuts off!

Anyway, this is why I finally bought a Kindle Paperwhite.  Because mindless reading at 4am is much better than lying in bed going over schedules for the day, or things I need to do but don't want to, or [my personal favourite] all the mistakes I've made in my life [seriously - thanks for that 4am-Brain!]

This sounds like me.  Especially the dh part.  My dh is the same way.  Lay down, close eyes, asleep!  It just amazes me.

  10. Any chance you have regular powdered cascade? Yes dishwasher detergent.  Maybe the liquid would work but I always used the powered.

Anyway wash the pants alone with the cascade.  The wash again with regular detergent (can be with other stuff this time) to make sure you get the cascade out.  I am not sure about dried pants but that always worked to get ds pants back super white even after a game with lots of sliding.

As for the shirt.  Salt it.  Put the shirt in salt water.  Just tap water and some table salt. (I just pour about a hand's worth in the sink or bowl or washer I am soaking the item in).  Swish around and let sit for 30 minutes or overnight if you forget like I often do.  This will set the red so it doesn't bleed.  Works for other clothes/colors too.  I do it for my new jeans and dress pants too.

Probably to late to help.  Hope your ds has an awesome game

  11. Sunday -- breakfast items (dh was wanting big breakfast Sun or Mon), dh new shoes (old ones had a hole), truck gas after a ride

Monday -- milkshakes after watching fireworks

Tuesday -- shirts for my guys, green tea (dh is on a green tea kick and it was on sale), toilet paper and trash bags

    Wednesday -- mower gas

    Thursday -- 0

    Friday -- 0

Saturday -- truck gas, cokes for family at ball game

    Spendy week but good week.

Went for ride last Sunday,  fun family day.  Took a cooler and snacks so we didn't have to buy anything

Dc got an awesome deal at the fireworks stand. Lots of free stuff.

Dh brought home 2 boxes of tomatoes, 3 cantaloupes and 2 containers of blackberries people gave him.  I shared some tomatoes with mom and with neighbor, kept some out for eating and canned the rest.

A friend stopped by and paid me for something I picked up for her.

We got free tickets to a AA minor league game. So another fun family night.

  12. My dc are weird   especially the oldest.  He has never wanted a phone.  I did get a flip tracfone for them to share when they went places (mostly they go together) but oldest is forever forgetting it.  He finally said the other he might want a phone since he and his brother do a few things separate now.  Do you know what kind of phone he wants?  A flip phone.  He says "I am not texting anyone so I don't need anything except to call you and tell you where I am". So $10 for the phone and $20 for 90days service.  Can't beat that.

I am saying weird because when both mentioned to their ball teams they didn't have a phone they said the whole team stopped and looked like they were nuts.

  13. Around here there is only a local owned consignment shop.  The way it work at this place is anything you bring in becomes their property (meaning if it doesn't pass their standards test they pass it to a local charity).  The items are then tagged with your #.  If the item sells you get 40% of what it sold for.  After a certain amount of time if your items don't sell they go to charity.

Yes I use this place but only send things I am almost certain they will take.  The rest I give away to friends.

Oh and this place takes infant through adult clothes.  My dc are in adult clothes.

I don't make much (we wear most our stuff out) but it is easy to start a box and drop it off when I am out.  Then I get a few dollars here and there.

  14. Like the other said...hang in there it will pass.

And please if they tell you they think something stinks (underarms, shoes, cap, shirt etc.)  DO NOT under any circumstance smell it  :ack2:   :ack2:  Just tell them to wash it, put on deodorant or put some spray in it (fabreeze extra fabric is good for the shoes).  Trust me!! I learned the hard way with ds1.  After my 1st mess up I did NOT sniff anything else.  Ds2 came along and he told me he thought his underarms were stinky.  I just went and got an deodorant and said "this is yours. Use it daily"   :ack2:
